While she had busied herself with trying to find whatever it was that she was looking for, he had been paying a bit of attention to the puppy. Honestly, all he'd done was absently scratch the top of her head while he kind of watched Treise search through the cupboards. Though, honestly, he'd been more zoned out than anything. And if you were to ask him what he was thinking about? The answer probably would have been "nothing". He tended to do that from time to time, just zone out and not think of anything. Mostly because there really wasn't all that much to think about. His life was pretty boring without anyone around to keep him entertained or to "cause trouble" with. It was one of the things that he missed the most about his sister. When Treise's words broke the silence he flashed her a grin before he pushed himself up onto his feet. The puppy remained sound asleep, despite the fact that he'd stopped petting her. "Well. I can cook, but I'm terrible with baking," he admitted with a laugh. "And, yes, before you try to convince me that there isn't a difference...there is," he said and flashed her a grin.

When he spoke about there being a difference she would laugh, “Of course there’s a difference,” she would say with a shrug, “Never said there wasn’t,” she would say before glancing back over the items that she had gathered, “But some aspects are exactly the same,” she would grin before moving to grab the container of berries that she had collected, handing them to him with a small cup of sugar, “I need you to boil the berries in some water with the sugar,” she would say, “Sort of like cooking. But try not to mash the berries or anything, and take them off of the heat before all of the fruit starts to fall apart,” she would direct with a grin. She didn’t even realize that she had sounded kind of bossy until after he’d gone off to do what she’d asked him to while she started to make the crust. As she was measuring out the flour a crazy idea would pop into her head, and occasionally she would turn to toss flour at Alasdair’s back, not enough for him to notice right away, but enough to make her absolutely grin. Despite her constant distractions it didn’t take her all that long to get the dough ready to be chilled, and after she got it situated to chill for awhile she would return to start putting stuff away, though when she came back to the open flour bag she would laugh softly and reach in to grab a big handful, turning to stare at Alasdair’s back for a moment. She was trying to figure out if it would be worth it, but after a moment of indecision she would laugh and chuck the handful at him before turning back to snatch up another handful. Though, instead of staying where she was or carry the heavy bag of flour with her she would run across the kitchen, putting an island between herself and the Marquess. Okay, so she was acting rather childish, and had been since she’d decided to play hide and seek without telling him, but it was amusing her.
