Aislin's memory of her mystery person was fading and she sighed, sitting back in her seat. She would look at her scenery then back to the easel using the end of her paint brush to scratch her head. She shook her head and dropped her brush back on the painting dish and called her horse to her. Once she had gotten to her, she hopped on and together, they rode back to the estate with both of their stomachs growling hungrily. It didn't take them long at all to return to their home. In fact, it took only minutes since they rode so fast that they felt the wind through her hair. With her eyes closed the horse came to a stop at the stables and she hopped off, leading her into hers. She noticed that the Duke had filled their stalls... A smile crossed her lips as she removed her reins and hung them up on the nail outside the door. She said her goodnight and made way for the house, stopping at the barrel of water and splashing some on her arms and face, coating her hair a bit as well to pat it down. Once finished, she walked inside towards the main hall, where she would get a plate of food herself, staying quiet. Her green eyes peeking up at each Knight as they sat around the table. Then let her eyes fall on the Dukes before looking back down at her plate.

He took his time with his food, and despite the fact that he was raised on a farm it was obvious that he had impeccable manners. Not that farmers have bad manners, but I'm talking like the manners of high nobility here. Not long after he started eating the back door opened and someone entered. He didn't have to look to know that it would be Aislin. She seemed to prefer using the back door to the building, and he couldn't say that he blamed her. Anyway. He continued to eat his food in relative silence, glancing up only once when he felt her gaze shift to him. He gave her a nod before he returned to his food and drink. After a few moments he felt like there might be some things that were left unspoken between them. Surely she had no idea what her position was to be here now that he had taken over as the rightful lord of the land. A sigh drifted from his lips before he pushed back from the table and wandered over to the smaller one that she had settled at. He pulled back a chair that was across from her and settled in to it, but he wasn't sure how to start the conversation. Here's to hoping she might say something.

Aislin would look up from her plate and used a napkin to wipe her lips clean with before looking directly at him. She knew why he was sitting with her. They had matters to attend to, that's for sure. She'd put her fork down on the table and set the napkin on her lap as she looked up at the man. "So." She spoke quietly so the other men didn't hear them speak to each other. Not that she didn't care, but she figured that the estates newest owner might want to keep it quiet. Her hair wrapped around her neck easily as she sat up. "I suppose we have matters to attend to, Mi`Lord, just where would you like to discuss them?" She questioned him. She went quiet for a bit and would wait for him to respond. Settling her hands down into her lap as she leaned back into her chair peacefully. Her eyes quietly settling on his as she picked up her glass of water and sipped it slowly. She wasn't sure what he was going to say to her, nor did she know if she was going to keep her current title or if she was going to become something else.

He couldn't help but smile at the way that she addressed him. It must be weird for her to address someone else as the lord of the estate after having been the lady of the estate for the last several years since her father's death. "We can discuss things here, lady. I keep no secrets from my men or servants, and they would find out what we discussed eventually anyway," he said with a shrug. His gaze trailed over her for a moment and he decided then that she was different than what he had expected. He had expected her to be either just another lady, or possibly completely out of sorts over this whole situation. She seemed to him to be rather calm and collected. "I must admit to being impressed with both you and the condition of this estate. It's not that I don't believe that a woman can run an estate as effectively as a man, but merely that I was not sure what type of woman you were," he assured her gently.
"You have proven to be more than just competent, and I am happy with the state of things here," he complimented her. "You're probably wondering what your position here will be with me coming in to take over the estate. I can assure you that you will still be viewed as a lady. I'm not the type that would come in and kick you down to the level of servant; not that I think there's anything wrong with servants. Manual labor does the body good in my opinion," he said with a chuckle. "But I would like to get your input on things. You've run the estate yourself for the last several years and so you know what works. There are a few things that I would like to tweak here and there, but I'm a firm believer in not fixing what doesn't need to be fixed," he informed her. "Now there are some repairs that need to be made around the estate because of the elements wearing things down, and once my men and supplies arrive those things will be seen to. What I need to know from you is about the people and livestock of the estate. I need to know if certain people don't get along with others; what makes them not get along, and if there are any people you think might be better suited to different tasks than what they are currently assigned to. There are likely people here that are doing things because they have to, but once my people and the rest of my men arrive we'll likely have an over abundance of people. So if there are older people doing manual labor that we could replace with younger people, I would like to see that done. I also need to know if any of your livestock, including horses, need to be kept separate from the rest of the herds because of their behavior. I have some horses that dislike other horses and some bulls that just cannot be kept anywhere near each other without the fear that that might kill one another."

Aislin would nod towards his words. He wasn't at all what she had been expecting either. He seemed to be a man of the people, just as he said and judging by the stables appearances yesterday when she returned home. They were stocked and the horses were cared for, which had always been her job to do while she was living here, and even so when she was the Duchess of the household. She didn't expect much of her servants except that they treated each other with the same respect she was giving them and vice versa. Her eyes glanced upwards at him as she went to respond to his words. "Well, there are a couple of servants who are older, working the estate but they're stubborn and don't want to go take it easy. They have been working their whole entire lives and to even consider them to stop is cruel on my part." She chuckled and turned to face the backdoor where she knew some of them would still be working even until the morning hours before turning back to the man who sat down next to her. "As far from anyone not getting along, Sire, I think the only ones you'd have to worry about are the children. But children will be children and they will eventually see the rights from the wrongs eventually. I agree, however, some of the animals may have to be moved when your livestock arrives. Like the bulls and perhaps some of the horses however, the estate a pretty easy going place and I think you will have to wait and see that for yourself." She told him knowingly. "I do thank you for allowing me to keep my title even though I am not the Duchess of Avlora." She added.

He nodded to what she had to say. "Well, you'll keep the title of lady, but duchess is not one that you will keep," he reminded her gently. "That being said, I think we've covered what we need to for now, so I will leave you to whatever it is you do," he said with a smile before he pushed back from the table. He paused and turned back to her then. "Unless you'd like to join me? I was going to go for a walk and see if I couldn't find something productive to do," he said with a chuckle. He wasn't much the type to like sitting still, and would much rather be doing work than sitting around and chatting. He had promised his men that they would celebrate this evening, but that was still a few hours away. "I don't mind either way, so I figured I'd give you the option," he explained pleasantly. While he waited for her to make up her mind he picked up a mug of ale that hadn't yet been touched from one of the tables and took a swig. He starred at her over the rim of the much while he waited for her to make her decision.

She pondered on this for a moment and it appeared to look like she was starring off into space. Her mind racing through all of the ideas that could possibly go wrong while she was away, and all of the ideas that didn't seem so bad. On the plus side, this walk could give her all of the information about him, not that she didn't know much of it to begin with, but it would let her get to know him a bit better than she already had. The bad side, she'd be leaving her people with these Knights whom she knew nothing about. Granted, he had assured her that if they had harm the people, he would deal with it as their commander. Something about that just seemed really fishy to her. However, like he; she wasn't one who could sit down for hours on end and not do anything. She literally had to be doing something in order to keep her from getting ideas. It was a old habit that her caretakers would do for her. Keep her moving. More moving, meant less time to think about stuff, and she figured it was just to keep her from getting knowledge of who she was. Finally, after all was thought out, she'd nod some and push her chair out to stand up and turn to look at him. "I think we've covered all if not, most of the productive things to do here, Sire. If we do much more, I'm afraid we will be doing their jobs for them." She said in a light tone. Her eyes closed for a brief moment as she turned to face the door and spotted the children running a muck once again. She shook her head and couldn't help but to chuckle before picking up her mug of ale and taking a swig off of it. Though she hated drunks, she didn't mind drinking here and there and the younger men on the estate knew how to brew rather well. "I've seen you work, lets see how you play." She said to him in a very child-like tone that hinted a bit of a challenge to him. She wanted to see if this man was all about work and no play or did he really have a child inside of him. She started towards the door, her hand on the knob before turning to face him with her bright green eyes. "Unless, you're afraid of a bit of fun. Sire." She challenged, and then found herself walking out the door in a fast paced walk and over towards a stack of hay to hide in. Knowing her servants would gladly play along.

He flashed a grin when she challenged him to a game. He loved games, and challenges were never left unaccepted or unmet by him. He placed the mug of ale that he'd been drinking from back on the table and turned to take off after her when she darted through the hall and out the back door. "Oh, Lady Aislin," he called out, pretending that he hadn't seen her duck into a nearby haystack. "Where, oh where could you be little lady," he called in a teasing manner. A grin was plastered to his face as he pretended to search for her in a few different places. He caught the eye of a child who grinned at him and giggled, and he gave the kid a wink. The child pointed towards the haystack that they had both seen her duck into and he nodded. He stalked over to the haystack and shuffled around with his hands a bit before pushing it open to where he spotted her and then casually pretended to trip over something as he tried to get to her. He succeeded in breaking her fall so that he didn't hurt her, but now he was hovering over top of her with a shit eating grin on his face. "Well, that was fun, but you're not very good at this game," he teased lightly.

She would grin a bit when she heard him calling out her name. Well, more so to the nickname he had used. Cupping her mouth with both hands she would try to tuck herself further into the bundle as if he wouldn't be able to find her. With her knee's now tucked up to her chest, she waited and stayed hidden away into her haystack. Everything went silent for a while until she heard footsteps heading towards her, and than felt the haystack shake. Her eyes saw his hand between the straws as she went to move herself a bit to the side. Not that there was a whole lot of places for her to go. She was cornered and she wasn't sure if he was going to keep looking in the stack for her or move on to another spot but either way she staying there until she was found. And that didn't take him very long. She suspected that one of her own gave in and told him where she was hiding. Just as he pretended to fall over, she tried scooting backwards but was caught between him and the ground beneath her. She could've sworn she felt her heart stop beating right then and there as she seemed to be starring right at him. Her breathing was shaky as she laid there. "And you sir, seem to be... Closing in." She told him licking her lips to rid them of the dryness that suddenly overcame them. She cleared her throat and waited for him to move before getting out of the trap.

He flashed her a grin. "Sorry, tripped," he said on a chuckle when she retorted to his comment about her not being very good at this game. He watched her tongue dart out across her dry lips and suddenly he found himself realizing that she was, in fact, a very pretty young girl. Without really pausing to think about it he caught her around the neck with one hand and within an instant his mouth had descended on hers and he was kissing her. He held back the groan that built up in his chest and even if she ended up slapping him for this it would so be worth it. After a moment he pulled back and released his hold on her, that same shit eating grin still plastered to his face. "Well," he said and stood up, reaching down to pull her to her feet as well, not taking no for an answer. He kept his hold on her hand as he made his way out of the haystack and then turned back towards her. She had hay sticking out from her hair and he couldn't help but laugh at the sight that she presented. He reached out with his free hand to pluck a few pieces of hay from her hair.

She didn't have any time to think about the sudden act that he had mad upon her. She didn't have time to retaliate her next move, and so, found herself wrapping her arms around his neck tightly, pulling herself upwards into his grip. She breathed heavily during the kiss, her returning to beat only a million more times faster then it was doing previously. When he pulled back, she kept a hand wrap around his neck, her eyes just starring into his blinking very wearily. What had just happen anyway? Something inside of her stirred and she couldn't help but to blush at her cheeks. When he stood up and pulled her up from the ground, she was confused and once she had caught a wind of fresh air, she shoved him back a bit of ways, hard, and went running towards the back door. She would continue to make her way towards her room, locking the door behind her the moment it had shut and walked backwards to her bed before sitting on it with a flop. She lifted her fingers up until she felt them touch her lips. She breathed heavily, still unable to really comprehend what had just happen in the hay stack, unsure if she liked or not. No one has ever kissed her like that before.. Well, no one had kissed her at all, everything was rushing inside of her.. From her heart pumping, to her head throbbing in her pain as she tried to make her conscious clear.

He couldn't help the laugh that had escaped him at the way she'd responded to his kiss. However, when she shoved him away once they were out of the haystack he frowned and realized he should probably apologize for that. He just hadn't been able to help himself. When her tongue had darted out to lick her lips nervously his gaze had been drawn to her lips and they'd just looked so damn kissable. "Aislin," he called after her, but she was through the back door before he could say much more than her name. He cursed himself out loud and darted off after her, running through the back door and up the stairs to the room that she'd just slammed the door to. He paused outside and knocked lightly on the door. "Aislin," he called softly through the door, his tone questioning. He really wanted to apologize to her, but he wasn't about to do it through a closed door. When one of his men came running up the stairs behind him his head snapped around and he gave the man a blank stare.
"My lord," the man questioned, and Nic just shook his head. "I'm merely trying to apologize to the lady," he insisted and tried to wave the man away. "What did you do," the man asked with a laugh. Nic frowned. "Nothing." "You had to have done something if you're trying to apologize to her," the man said reasonably. "I may have gotten a bit carried away and kissed her without asking for her permission," he admitted a bit sheepishly. The other man laughed and walked over to clap him on the shoulder. "You're on your own with that one, my lord," he said with a grin before he took off down the stairs again. Nic rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to the door. "Come on, Lady Aislin," he said in as sweet a tone as he could manage. "At least open the door long enough for me to give you a proper apology," he pleaded.

She could hear the man's voice echoing throughout the house. He was coming after her and she knew this. Her eyes turned to face her door when she heard the footsteps stop right in front of it, and his voice on the other side. She had ignored him the whole way to her room, but the thing that she couldn't ignore was the way she had felt during and after the kiss he had given her. She felt bad though, for ignoring him and then making him explain the situation to one of the Knights. Surely he was feeling bad about the whole ordeal. She listened to the tone of his voice as it went from worry to, questionable and then sympathetic. She gulped and wouldn't stand to her feet until she had heard the Knight walk off in the other direction. She rose to her feet and slowly walked towards her door and unlocked it slowly. Her hand laid on top of the knob as she stood there hesitant of opening it. Finally, she allowed herself to open the door just partially to where she could peer at him with her eyes uncertainly. Finally, she breathed in and released it before opening the door fully as she stood in the doorway of her bedroom. "I had caused them to believe that something was going on. I apologize for that.. Sire." Though she didn't know why she was apologizing, but it just felt right. "I had no right to shove you.." She whispered quietly, looking downwards at her feet shuffling the hardwood.

When she opened the door he flashed her his best smile. "That's the spirit," he teased softly. However, when she spoke he shook his head. "You have nothing to apologize for, Lady Aislin," he assured her gently. "I should be apologizing to you. I shouldn't have kissed you without your permission," he said with a slight frown. "So I beg for your forgiveness," he said as sweetly as possible. "Though, I do have to say that you brought it on yourself," he teased her gently. "You just look so darn kissable," he said with a laugh and shook his head slightly. "Seriously, though, that doesn't excuse my behavior. So I apologize for being rude and kissing you when you obviously didn't want to be kissed," he said before he gave her a small bow and turned to walk away. He headed down the stairs and into the main hall where he stopped by the table with the mug of ale that he'd left unfinished earlier. He picked up the mug and took a swig of it, only to find himself being starred at by several of his men. He lifted his shoulders in a shrug, smirked at the looks on their faces, and wandered off again.

When he spoke, she felt horrible. Sure, he didn't have the right to kiss her. It wasn't his place, but she didn't want him to feel bad about the whole ordeal. She was just confused about it is all. She felt like she needed to explain and to apologize to him now. All of this was so confusing. She had no idea what was happening and she wondered what it was that made her feel like this. Was it the kiss that he had so rudely given her? Or was it the fact that she had returned the kiss and led him on? She didn't know but she did know that she had to after him. And with that, she did. She walked out of the room and closed her door behind her before practically running down the stairs after the man. What on Earth was going on? She was chasing after a man who was seemingly older then she was and probably did not have any of the same feelings that she did. She would leap down the stairs and stop to face the men in the main hall. Apparent fear seen on her face as she rushed to find him. When the servant spotted her, he pointed to the direction the way he had gone. She nodded, and followed the direction to where he had gone. "Mi`Lord." She called out to him. Her emotions running all over the place. Easily seen on her face too. It was hard to believe that she had chased after him. She would wait for him to face her before she would say anything else. She felt really out of place with her normal childish self.
