Nioclás McKinnley
Nic rode up to the gates of Avlora with an entourage of other men who were fellow knights. He had been contacted by the man who had stolen his inheritance several years ago. He had made a deal with the man that he would wait until the daughter was old enough for marriage before he set foot on Avlora's grounds, but that he would get his rightful title back. It hadn't really been something that he was all that interested in, but for whatever reason he had agreed to doing it. Technically the young woman had been old enough for marriage for a couple or few years by the time he arrived, but he'd been putting off doing this. Now, however, at 36 years old he found himself ready to give marriage another try. There was no telling how the woman would react to him, though.
He spurred his horse through the open gates and nodded to the servants that surrounded him and the men he rode in with. The gates were only open because he'd been in contact with some of the house servants and had sent a runner ahead of the main group to announce, only to select servants, that he, as the rightful Duke of Avlora, was on his way and would shortly be arriving. He reined his horse to a stop when they reached the end of the inner courtyard and nodded to the men that were with him. They all dismounted at the same time and he knew that inside servants would be rushing about as they looked for the woman that they knew as the duchess and warned her that there was a party of men that had just arrived on the estate.

Aislin would be in the back, helping the children catch some of the farm animals for dinner this evening. She wasn't your average being. A smile played her maw as she finally cornered and caught a bore for the meal tonight when she suddenly heard one of her servants rushing out the back door in fear. She read it on her face. Her brows furrowed together as she listened to her maiden and nodded lightly. Unafraid. Though not many people came to her home in the town, she knew it was probable that someone of the Court had arrived with his men. She dusted her hands off of her apron that tied around her emerald green dress which fell to her bare feet and covered them well. She walked over towards the corner of the homestead and peaked around the corner quietly before shooing some of the smaller children away. These people were her family and she felt it was her duty to protect them from any threat that could show up on their doorstep. She turned her back against the wall and took a deep breath and walked out towards the group. "What can I do for you Gentlemen?" She called out to the men who rode into her gates. She had no idea that she wasn't the rightful heir of this place, so seeing some strange man with Knights riding up, made her concern. She was a young women with bright, red, curly hair, fair skin and bright green eyes that seemed to stick out for miles on end. She even had an Irish accent. Once she got close enough to the man ahead of the heard, she went quiet and folded her hands over her apron waiting quietly, plotting her next move.

Nioclás McKinnley
Nic and his men stood patiently as they waited for the woman to arrive. It didn't take long and when she finally did his eyes scanned her and he found himself nodding in approval. At least she was easy on the eyes. He got the feeling though that she would likely be none too happy when he announced who he was and what he was doing here. Not to mention the fact that she'd probably be down right furious when she found out her father had arranged to have her married to him. Many women hated the fact that their fathers controlled their lives, but he had the sneaking suspicion that she would be even more furious, considering her father had been dead a good couple or few years.
"Lady Ni` Chaillin presumably," he said and when one of the servants behind her gave a nod he continued. "I am Lord Nioclás McKinnley," he said, introducing himself first. "These are my men," he said as he indicated the men that stood by their horses and his. "I realize that what I'm about to say may come as a shock to you, and you will probably try to deny it, but I have documents to prove that what I am about to tell you is the truth," he continued. "I am, by right of inheritance, as the son of the true Duke of Avlora, here to claim the duchy of Avlora as my own," he informed her and waited. He watched her expression and would gauge her reaction before he would continue or offer to present her with the documents that proved he was who he claimed to be.

Aislin was aware of the creepy crawlies that stood behind her and watched the on goings between herself and the man who proclaimed to be the true heir of these estates. She heard a couple of gasps coming some of them and figured that the lot of her servants knew of this. This, she wasn't surprised of. The people were just about as sneaky as Adohan was. Or so she was told. She nodded a bit towards his words as her expression didn't change from the questionable look she had upon her face. Like he, she knew a lot of the people in the Courts secret, and he happen to be one of them. Not that she knew he was the rightful heir to this estate but she knew of him and somewhat, he had been through. "Mi`Lord." She'd curtsey, remembering her mannerism. Once she fixed her footing she turned to eye the men next to their horses before letting her bright green eyes land on his own pair. "In all honesty, I know who you are. I know that you've had a painful past and to be honest, Sire, I am thankful that you've come to reclaim your estate." She told him softly. Her tone neutral and not changing as she spoke. "I am willingly to give it all back to you, so long I can remain a resident of this property until I feel that the people feel safe and protected." She told him sincerely. She knew that after what had happen in his past, he could use some happiness and if being the rightful heir to Avlora, would grant him such thing, she would give in. He seemed like a reasonable guy after all, he was able to show her proof of his inheritance to her.

He nodded to her when she said she'd heard about him and what he'd been through. It made him cringe inwardly, but outwardly his expression was stoic. He hated that becoming a knight had turned his life into something that everyone knew about, but...shit happens. He turned to one of the men in the party and gave him a nod. He stepped forward and handed Aislin the documents that proved that he was who he claimed to be and when she requested to stay he was surprised, but actually happy. "Of course you can remain a resident here for as long as you like," he informed her with an inclination of his head. "I have other men, servants, and livestock that are on the road to Avlora now, but probably won't arrive for a few days. The men that are with me now rode ahead with me so that we could save you some shock," he said not unkindly. He didn't want her to think that he was a mean or horrible person because of what he'd come here for. In reality he was a genuinely caring person who typically enjoyed people. "I am sorry if we have upset you and we will do our best to accommodate you to keep you comfortable," he said and flashed her a gentle smile.

Aislin's lips pulled back in a faint smile as she unrolled the piece of paper and scanned it. Her eyes moving in the ways that she had read it and noticed it as Adohan's hand writing. Since many of the servants here didn't know how to read or write a letter, it wouldn't be her own or a forged copy of the documentation. She nodded and everything seemed to be in order. She couldn't help but to sigh softly and feel like she had let these good people down for handing it over so easily. But she knew what she had to do and she knew that with this, gave her the freedom that she'd been so hopeful of all these years. And to think, she wasn't going to be alone anymore. Not that she was every truly alone, but there was surely another form of company to the estate. She would turn to face him as he spoke of other men and people arriving later. She nodded before giving him back the piece of paper. "I am not upset, mi'lord." She told him assuring before looking at him and then allowed her green eyes to scan the people behind him. A darker shade seemed note able as she turned to the men next to the horses. A light, but promising threat to all of them, including the man who stood before her escape her lips. "As you enter your new home, I advise you, harm my family and I will surely harm you in ways you wouldn't even imagine." She told them with a glare. Like the people of the Court, she knew how men could be in new situations that were unfamiliar with them. "However, I do welcome you all home." She said in a bit of a fiery, tone.

He waited only for her to finish reading over the documents before he would nod to his men and direct some of the servants to help them take the horses to the stables and have them untacked and groomed before they were put up. He flashed a grin when she threatened them against harming the people here and he strode forward to close the distance between them. "I assure you that my men are some of the few left in the kingdom that actually abide by the knight's code of honor, and if any of them were to harm another human I would take it upon myself as their commander to see them beat at the very least for their indiscretions, Lady Aislin," he said in a light tone before he walked past her and opened the front door of the estate.
As he entered he noticed one thing; everything seemed to have its place and still be functioning properly. So she did know what she was doing. Good. At least he wasn't going to have to clean up too many messes while he was trying to settle into a new home. He glanced around and found a servant that was passing by. He stopped the lad and asked him to fetch someone who could go over the estates finances with him. The lad nodded, bowed, and scurried off to do what he'd been told. A sigh drifted from his lips as he wandered to what appeared to be the main hall of the estate. A large table with several chairs on either side and one large one at the end sat smack in the center of the hall. A smile tugged at his lips as he walked to the end of the table and pulled the large chair back before he sat down. He knew it wouldn't take long before his men joined him, and so he motioned to a servant and had them order ale for all the men and something quick and light to eat since it wasn't quite time for the mid day meal just yet.

Aislin would watch him step closer to her and couldn't help but to grip lightly onto the sides of her dress nervously, though her face didn't didn't change expressions what so ever. Never had she been so close to a man before.. Not even one of her male servants. She nodded and breathed out slowly as he walked past her. Only her eyes shifting to the corner to watch him move into the house. She would then make her move and walk towards the men and the horses, grabbing a couple by the reins and leading them strait into the stables where the others were. She enjoyed being with the servants. Since they had helped her so much, she could only do the same for them. Once she helped the men and boys fix and groom the horses, she would go over towards the cook house where the women would be standing and preparing their meals for the evening. Laughter and smiles could be seen between all ten of them. They were happy in their home and it was peaceful with how everything was going. It was strange even, to see a female work among the servants even if she used to be the owner of the estates. Once she felt that the women were caught up in their chores, she was being tugged on her dress by a small hand. She looked down to the boy and spotted the other children near by. He was holding up a round soft toy and gave her a pleaded look to play with them. She couldn't help but to chuckle and nod towards them. They cheered and together the lot of them went to the back fields and started kicking the ball around with their feet. She, holding her dress upward some so she wouldn't trip over herself and look like a fool.

Nioclás McKinnley
It wasn't long before the servants arrived with mugs of ale and plates of bread and cheese, and shortly there after the men arrived and settled around the table. A man, whom Nic had never seen before, approached and he introduced himself as the person who could go over the finances with Nic. He nodded to the man who sat down in the chair on his left after one of Nic's men got up and moved. For a long time they went over the finances, and Nic was pleased to find out that there were only a few things that he was going to have to change, and mostly to accommodate his own people and their livestock. His sister-in-law, whom he still considered that even though his wife was dead, was among the people that would be coming to Avlora. Once he was done speaking to the man he turned his attention back to the table and found himself eating and drinking with his men. They talked trivialities mostly, but at least it was better than nothing. He'd sent a servant to see to the soldier's barracks on the estate and had been pleased when the man reported that there was plenty of room for the men that he had brought with him now and even the ones that were on the way with the rest of the people and supplies.

Aislin would end falling down to the ground after a while of running around the property with the children. They stopped and piled up on them in a large dog pile format. She waved her hands to get the children off of her as their parents came to retrieve them for the night. After she had gotten up, she was covered in filth and dirt and would return to the house. Her eyes seemed at peace with herself as her heart was beating quickly after her game with the children. She would walk in through the back door which had a deck that stretched out a bit of ways into the back. Near the door, a barrel of water was placed to wash up before entering the house. Once she was finished cleaning her face and hands with her apron, she would enter and go over towards a small table with a plate of food. She didn't want to be a hair on the Knight's back or anything, so she ate silently and by herself. Once finished, she took the scraps and dumped outside for the hounds to finish off before moving off to go grab one of her bags and pulled it over her shoulder gently. With her new freedom was able to work on more paintings then anything else, so this made her happy. She had a secret spot where she liked to go and paint when she wasn't busy with the affairs that were on her shoulders. Meaning her house hold. She stayed quietly and would move to walk back out the back door and into the stables where she had a stable boy waiting with her mare. She would take the reins and pat her neck gently. 'You know where to go.' She whispered before moving to prepare herself to sit upon her horse.

Nioclás McKinnley
There was good cheer to be heard around the table as the men chattered endlessly about the little things. Nic, however, wasn't much of one for the conversations today it seemed. He was tired from traveling, but more than anything he just wanted to be around the animals. Having grown up on a farm he found the animals to be peaceful. Much more peaceful than the wearisome tasks of running an estate this large. And Avlora was huge. He excused himself from his men and stood up from the table, promising to be back later and celebrate their arrival with them in the evening. They let him go without much trouble or protest, since this sort of thing was typical of him. He wandered through the main house to the front door. When he slipped outside he was assailed by bows and curtsies from the servants, but he mostly ignored them. Instead he headed off towards the stables and livestock paddocks where he felt most comfortable and at home. He checked on his own horse and all of the other horses before his feet moved him over to the livestock pens. He looked out over the pasture and saw that the herds were decently sized. Good, with the addition of the ones that his people were bringing they would be even larger.

Aislin would watch him from behind her house as he walked over to the livestock. She studied him slightly with a tilt of her head. She nodded and shooed the stable boy away as she retrieved the mare by the reins and pulled her along towards the stables and padlocks where the man stood. Her eyes gazing over the pasture as she stopped at his side just a couple feet away from him. She was curious now, where her place was amongst the estate. Was she a servant still? To aide his every need or desire? Or was she pictured as a Lady in his eyes still? She didn't know and she needed to know. Well, more like, she wanted to know and she knew the best way to find out, was to ask the head master. And now, that would be him but she would let that stray from thought for now. "Lord McKinnley, let me offer you a bit of advice on your new home." She spoke softly as her green eyes leveled with the horizon ahead of them. "If work with them, they will serve you. Of course, they're going to serve you no matter what you do. However, if you help them, they will most certainly help you in a time of need and despair." She told him calmly before nodding more so to herself before turning her mare around and reading herself for her departure. "I shall be back before evening meal, sire." She added, and started off her ride in a slow trot, kicking up dirt as she went.

He knew she was there before she spoke and he nodded when she said what she thought were words of wisdom. "Believe me, I know how to work with people," he assured her gently. "I grew up on a farm and as a knight and commander people are kind of what I do," he chuckled. "Well, then. Have a nice ride," he said when she told him she would be back in time for the evening meal. His attention turned back to the livestock pens and he lost himself in thought for a moment before he turned away. He made his way around the estate, checking over everything and finding himself rather pleased with the state that it all seemed to be in. There were a few things that were in need of repair, but it was in much better condition than he'd dared to hope it might be. At least he wasn't going to have to completely gut the whole place and start over from scratch. There was that, right? A sigh drifted from his lips and he turned his course to head back into the stables. He grabbed a pitchfork and shovel and decided to start cleaning stalls, starting with whichever one looked like it needed it the most.

Aislin would ride off towards the East. Her mare taking her where she wanted to go. Down a path through a thick layer of brush and in there, a lake which had a dock attached to it. There, stood her art supplies and utensils. She smiled at the thought since it had been some time since she had last come here to do any free style painting. Hopping off her horse she would let loose of the reins and allowed her to free roam the area. Not many knew of this place besides a couple servants that she had shown it too. This was her haven and this would be the place she would go to think and create. With that, she sat down in a chair and started drawing out the first image that came to mind. A figure of whom she hadn't met before but often seen in her dreams. It was hard not to ignore such beauty of the female. She really never had the chance to actually complete it. Or maybe it wasn't even a female and her vision was just blurred out and it was nothing. A sigh escaped her lips as she continued creating her art project.

Nioclás McKinnley
He cleaned the stalls one at a time, excluding the ones that didn't really need it all that much, and when he finally finished he found himself in need of a drink and something to eat. Fortunately a servant came around at about that exact time to tell him that the mid day meal had been served. He thanked the lad and then latched the last stall that he'd just finished cleaning. He walked towards the back of the main house and pulled the door open, having spotted the wash bin that was by the back door. Someone had replaced the water since Aislin had dirtied it by washing herself off earlier. He rubbed some of the water over his arms, face, and neck and then dried off with a towel that was laying nearby. Once he was finished refreshing himself he turned and headed for the main hall. His men greeted him as they all stood up from their seats, though he noted that there was significantly less of them left at the table. Good. He'd rather they got to know Avlora as quickly as possible so they could better adjust to life in their new home. He settled into the large chair at the front of the table and picked through the plates of food that had been set out until he filled his own plate with what he wanted.
