She'd had a hell of a time hiding her increasing symptoms from her husband. About the only thing that helped her hide them was the fact that she still wasn't far enough along to be showing just yet. The worst of it was that she had been trying to be careful as of late, which meant that she was acting rather suspicious in not doing certain things that she enjoyed doing normally. If he hadn't figured it out himself yet, her poor husband was probably baffled by her behavior as of late. Of course, she knew Alpin was an intelligent man, so it was quite possible that he had figured it out, but just hadn't said anything to her about it. At the moment she was feeling rather nauseous, but trying her best to act normal. By now she was getting anxious, and probably wouldn't wait much longer to tell him about her "condition." She was just too excited to keep it to herself much longer. Although she was nervous about the prospect of telling anyone at the same time. She knew that it was possible that something could happen to make it so she didn't carry to term. Which was, really, why she was nervous about the idea of telling someone about it. A sigh drifted from her lips and she continued downstairs to the estate's dining hall. She wasn't sure if Alpin would be there for the morning meal or if he'd already eaten this morning. However, she was hopeful that she could manage to get something in her stomach that would settle the nausea.

Alpin was, in fact, in the dining hall, though he was talking quietly to one of his cooks. He had expected that something was wrong with his wife, he’d caught her with an upset stomach quite a few times, and was talking to the man about proving meals that would be easier on her stomach. Like toasted bread and light soups and the like; he knew that those items helped with queasy stomachs, and he hated to see his wife so ill, though other than the vomiting he hadn’t noticed any other symptoms. He was just finishing talking to the man when the woman in question entered the room, and he would glance immediately towards her. A soft smile would grace his lips as he nods to the cook before making his way towards Ranait, reaching out to envelope her in a warm hug as soon as he reached her. After a moment or two he would lean back to gently cup her face in his hands, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her forehead, “How are you feeling today, love?” he would ask, though he hadn’t felt any unusual warmth radiating from her forehead. He’d kissed her there in both an affectionate manner, and because he had been concerned that she might be running a fever or something of the sort. That wasn’t the case though, and he would offer her a smile as he moves to lead her to a seat, pulling out a chair for her before moving to sit beside her. “The cook should be bringing out some food soon,” he would comment, his voice low in case she might have a headache or something. He had asked her the first time he’d noticed her vomiting what other symptoms she had, though she’d merely brushed him off so he’d been trying to be careful with her in case she was experiencing things that she just hadn’t shared with him; like headaches or other things of the sort.

When she entered the dining hall and her gaze landed on her husband a smile would grace her lips, despite the nausea that turned her stomach. When he crossed over to wrap her in a warm hug she curled her own arms around him and pressed her forehead against his chest, giving a soft sigh. She lifted her head shortly there after, and he pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I'm okay, just a little nauseous," she said in her best reassuring tone. She knew that he had noticed the upset stomach and throwing up at the very least, and he had kind of been acting like he thought she might just be sick. It was cute, actually, the way that he'd been treating her. Although it had also been kind of irritating, but only because he'd been treating her like she was made of glass that was about to break at any given moment. The irritation probably stemmed from the hormones that she'd noticed were starting to go all wonky on her, too. And speaking of hormones, when he pulled out the chair for her and she settled in to it she felt random tears spring to her eyes. Oh gods. This pregnancy thing was just ridiculous with things like that. What did she have to cry over? Absolutely nothing. When he mentioned that the cook should be bringing out some food soon she nodded, though frowned at his practically whispered tone. "You don't have to whisper, love. My head is fine," she said with a small smile. Yep. Changing emotions within seconds of each other. This was freaking perfect. Damn emotional roller coaster. (Not that she knew what a roller coaster was, but hey.) She shifted uncomfortably in the chair and pressed a hand against her stomach, willing the nausea to cease for a little while. What she wouldn't give to actually be able to eat something without throwing it up almost immediately afterwards. A sigh drifted from her lips when the cook arrived with different choices for food. Something among what the cook brought out made her wrinkle her nose at the smell. "Oh," she said, her face going pale. Fortunately a servant nearby happened to notice the look on her face and rushed to her side to help her out of the chair. The only saving grace was that there wasn't anything in her stomach to come up. So it was all dry heaving on her part. After a few moments she finally turned back to the table and settled back in the chair, pressing a hand against her nose to stave off whatever smell had upset her stomach in the first place. "This is getting ridiculous," she said out loud, without thinking about what she was saying. "I do not remember my mother being this bad off when she was pregnant," she said in a complaining tone. Again, she didn't really think about what she'd just said. And probably wouldn't unless he said something.

He would nod slightly when she said that she was just nauseous, feeling bad that there wasn’t anything he could do for her. After they were seated and she responded to him by saying that she didn’t have a headache he would laugh softly, “Sorry,” he would say with a shrug, “I just don’t want to cause you any pain,” he would admit, his brows furrowing slightly. He really wished that he knew how to help her, but as it stood there wasn’t very much he could think of. When the cook brought out the food he would smile at the man, starting to thank him only to hear Renny. He would frown and turn to look at her, only to jump from his seat as he noticed her looking rather pale. He immediately moved towards her, shooing the nurse away and helping her from the table, holding her hair back from her face with one hand while he rubbed her back with the other while she dry heaved. When it was over he would help her back into her seat, worry clouding his gaze.
He would turn to the cook, obviously rather angry, “I told you to bring out something LIGHT,” he would growl, gesturing towards the table, “This doesn’t look LIGHT to me,” he would rumble, watching as the man scurried to carry away the more fragrant foods. He would roll his eyes before turning back to Renny, listening as she spoke. He would sigh softly when she said that this was getting ridiculous, “I’m sorry, love, I really wish that I could help,” he would say with a frown, only to freeze as she began to talk about her mother and pregnancy. He would stare at her for a long moment, trying to figure out if he was truly understanding what she was saying, before he suddenly leapt from his chair and moved to sweep her up into his arms, lifting her petite frame so that he didn’t have to lean down to kiss her, “Wow, Ranait!” he would say, grinning wildly at her as his worry was replaced with excitement. He would set her down on her feet and move his hands to gently rub his fingers over her belly, “I can’t believe…” he would comment before shaking his head sharply, “Why didn’t you tell me?!” he would ask, though he wasn’t in any way upset over it; in fact he was nothing but overjoyed.
When the cook returned from the kitchens he would beam at the man, his eyes wide and happy as he suddenly remembered something from when his mother had talked about her pregnancy, “Bring ginger,” he would direct the man before turning back to his wife, “My mother said that when she was pregnant with me that ginger was what had saved her from the morning sickness,” he would laugh, unable to refrain from going at ninety miles a minute.

She felt bad for his continued apologies, though she knew there was nothing either of them could really do about it. When he shouted at the cook over the food she frowned at him. "Alpin," she said in a chastising tone. "It's not his fault," she continued. "Something just had a really strong smell to it and triggered the nausea," she said softly. When he apologized again she simply shook her head, though her eyes widened at his exclamation. What was he wowing her over? She starred at him briefly before realizing what she'd said about her mother's pregnancy. Oh. That must be what the wow was for. A giggle bubbles from her lips when he set her back down on her feet and said that he couldn't believe. She shook her head. "Neither could I," she admitted with a soft laugh. At his question she frowned a bit, tears springing to her eyes again. Damnit. She was so not normally this emotional. Ugh. "I wasn't trying to keep it from you," she said on a sigh. "I was just supposed to be waiting," she said with a shake of her head. "I've only been certain of it for a few weeks now," she admitted a bit sheepishly. "And everyone I've ever known has said to be careful about really saying anything until you can feel it start moving," she said on a sigh. "I've wanted to tell you for a while, but I was scared," she admitted, the tears finally spilling over. Most of it was the hormones, though part of it was because she was finally admitting to her own fears.
"I didn't want to say anything, because if something happens," she said, letting her voice trail off when he ordered the cook to bring ginger. A smile spread across her lips when he explained that ginger had helped his mother with morning sickness when she'd been pregnant with him. She stepped forward about half a pace and wrapped her arms around his waist. "And this is why I love you," she said with a soft giggle. Yep. Again with the changing emotions crap. She leaned up on her tiptoes to press a soft kiss to his lips.

When she said that she couldn't believe it either he would laugh, tugging her against him in a hug only to push her back just a bit as she started to answer his question. He hadn't expected for her to really answer, though it seemed like he shouldn't even have asked as she spoke about how she was supposed to wait to tell anybody and that she had been afraid. He would frown, his heart clenching when tears began to spill from her eyes, "Oh, love, it's okay," he would murmur softly, reaching up to gently brush away her tears, "I understand," he would murmur though when she said that she didn't want to say anything incase something happened he would cringe, "Ranait, nothing is going to happen," he would assure her, letting his hand drop to rest gently against her belly while the other wrapped around her again, "You don't have to worry about anything," he would assure her, shifting to gently kiss her forehead, "Have you seen a physician yet?" he'd ask, his brows furrowing a bit as he looks down at her.
Upon hearing her giggle and say that she loved him after he asked for ginger he would laugh softly, "I thought you love me because I'm attractive?" he would ask jokingly, wiggling his eyebrows at her in a playful manner. He would smile and gently kiss her back when she leaned up to kiss him, laughing softly when she pulled away, "I really hope that the ginger helps, though," he would say softly, "And when that baby comes out we're gonna have a serious conversation about not making mommy sick," he would say with a grin.

She'd smiled at him through the tears, muttering something about hormones in way of explanation for the tears. When he said nothing was going to happen she smiled faintly; hoping that he was right. "No, not yet," she admitted a bit sheepishly. She hated being examined by physicians, and he was probably going to yell at her for that, but hey. She laughed at his comment about loving him because he was attractive. "Well. It does help, and probably played a big part in me falling for you," she teased gently. "But I'd have to say your thoughtfulness definitely wins out," she said with a giggle. "I hope it does too. I'm tired of this nausea," she said with a frown to his comment on the ginger. A giggle bubbled from her lips when he said he was going to have a conversation with the baby about not making mommy sick when it was born. "I'm pretty sure you're going to have to wait until he or she is a bit older for them to understand," she said, shaking her head.
At that point the cook had returned with the ginger, though he'd crushed it up and mixed it with some water for her so that she wouldn't have to just chew on the root itself. "Thank you," she said, flashing the man a smile before she took the glass and sipped at it. The soothing effect on her stomach was almost instant, which was a huge relief to her. Especially after having been sick for the majority of the last few weeks. She turned to beam at her husband. "You are brilliant," she said with a laugh before she took another sip of the water. Her stomach gave a low rumble and she knew that she needed to eat something, so she picked a piece of toast and began to nibble on it. When she was finished with it and the glass of ginger infused water she turned her attention back to her husband and flashed him a smile. It was the first time in weeks that she'd eaten something and managed to keep it down for any length of time. "Yep. Absolutely brilliant," she said with a nod and a giggle.

He would frown when she said that she hasn't seen a physician, "Well we'll go after we're done here then," he would say with a shrug. He didn't want to say something wrong and have her go off on him or start crying; he knew that her hormones would be all out of whack and that he was pretty much going to be walking on eggshells for close to a year; he was including those few months after the baby was born when they would all be getting used to things. The only thing he truly worried about, though, was if they lost the baby somehow. He knew that Renny would be devastated if she miscarried, though there wasn't much he could do that would prevent it from happening if God willed it to be so. Which meant it was rather useless to worry about it, but it didn't quite mean that he wouldn't.
He would laugh and roll his eyes when she commented on his good looks playing a big part in why she'd fallen for him, only to go on to say that the other part had been his thoughtfulness, "I'm not thoughtful. Or really even very intelligent, or else I would have realized what was going on with you," he would say with a shake of his head, though he didn't appear all that upset about it. Upon hearing her say that he'd have to wait to talk to the baby do that they could understand he would shake his head, gently rubbing his hand over her belly despite the absence of a baby bump, "Nope. From day one we'll be having talks about how to treat you," he would say with a grin, "The sooner I start brainwashing our child the better," he would joke.
When the cook brought out the ginger water he would nod to the man before turning to watch her anxiously, hoping that it would help. He couldn't help but laugh when she said that he was brilliant and went on to eat some toast and finish the water. When she commented again about how he was brilliant he would roll his eyes, "No, I just have a good memory," he'd say, winking playfully at her.

She'd nodded to what he said about seeing a physician after they were done there. She might hate the idea of having to do such a thing, but she also knew that she had to do it. Besides that, she highly doubted that he would accept that she didn't want to do it as an excuse not to do it. When he said that he wasn't thoughtful or intelligent otherwise he would have realized what was going on with her she frowned at him and shook her head. "Just because you didn't automatically think that I was pregnant doesn't mean you're not thoughtful or intelligent. It just means that you're a man," she teased gently. "Women typically think pregnant before they think sick. Men typically think sick before they think pregnant," she said with a soft giggle. She leaned up to kiss his cheek softly while he rubbed his hand over her belly. Something told her that he would be doing a lot of this, especially once she started to show. Not that she really minded. "Also your thoughtfulness comes from what you do for me that most people wouldn't think of," she said, wrapping her arms around him now that she was done with the water and little bit of food. She laughed at his comment about having a good memory and shrugged. "Well. Brilliance or memory. Either way I'm glad you brought it up," she said with a giggle. She was trying to distract him with conversation so that he wouldn't bring up seeing the physician just yet. She really didn't feel like being poked and prodded like that at the moment. Especially since it was the first time in weeks that she hadn't felt nauseated. There were so many more things that she could think of doing that would be much more fun.

When she said what she did about him not being thoughtless or unintelligent he would laugh, "You're biased," he'd tease her, winking playfully. Of course he knew that she was right, but he still had to pick on her anyways; it was just too tempting. When she wrapped her arms around him he'd grin, leaning down to gently kiss her forehead, "I suppose," he would say in response to her comment about what makes him thoughtful. He couldn't help but laugh when she said that she was glad that he'd brought up the ginger regardless of what to account it to, "Me too, I don't like seeing you so sick," he would say with a shrug. Though, after holding her for a few moments he would step back a bit and gently grab her hand, "Ready to go see the physician?" he would ask with a smile before carefully beginning to maneuver them towards the door that lead into the hallway. He knew that she didn't necessarily like to visit the physician, but at this point it was probably the best thing to do. He'd never be able to live with himself if something happened to her and/or the baby because he'd refused to make her get a checkup.

She stuck her tongue out at him when he teased her. She just couldn't help acting a bit childish sometimes. "I might be biased, but my opinion counts more than yours," she teased right back. "Especially when that opinion is of you," she added with a giggle. She flashed a smile at him when he said that he didn't like seeing her so sick. "Really. You ought to be the one to suffer through some of this," she said with a frown. "I don't think it's fair that you get to help make the child, but don't have to bear the illness or discomforts of being pregnant," she said as she pouted cutely. Though she couldn't keep it up for long and ended up laughing at her own teasing. When he pressed a kiss to her forehead she tilted her head up and pressed a kiss to his lips in response. Though when he took her by the hand and started to steer her towards the door talking about seeing the physician she really felt like throwing a fit. Ugh. She didn't, though, because that would be even too unladylike for her. So instead she gave a soft sigh and nodded in response to his question.
"I suppose I don't really have a choice in the matter," she said as she scrunched up her face in distaste. Though she let him steer her towards wherever the physician might be found anyway. Like it or not, she knew it needed to happen at some point in the near future. And it might as well be done now.

He would laugh when she stuck her tongue out at him, only to roll his eyes when she said that her opinion counted more than his did, “I’ll have to keep that in mind,” he would say with a laugh and a shake of his head. Upon hearing her say that he should have to suffer through some of this he would immediately feel bad, despite knowing that she was just joking, “I’m sorry, love. I would take it all away from you and bear it myself if I could,” he would murmur, frowning when she laughed. It was true; if there was a way that he could prevent her from feeling discomfort or pain during her pregnancy then he would do it, even if it meant his own suffering. “I’ll do my best to make sure that you’re as comfortable as possible,” he would assure her, offering her a light smile. When she said that she didn’t really have a choice when it came to visiting the physician he would sigh softly, “You need to go, love,” he would murmur, “He’ll have tips and such, and he’ll need to keep an eye on your health. I’ve heard that a lot of miscarriages could have been prevented if the mother had just visited a physician. Besides, if you’d gone to him sooner he might even have suggested the ginger and you wouldn’t have gone through weeks of nausea.”

She gave a nod and pressed a kiss to his cheek when he'd said that he would take it all away and bear it himself if he could. And then when he went on to talk about her needing to go see the physician she sighed. "I know, I just don't like to be poked and prodded," she said with a frown. Of course, it wasn't really something that he would understand since he was a man. She wrinkled her nose at his comment about the physician maybe having suggested ginger if she had seen one by now. "Yes, well, considering that the physician here works for you; he wouldn't have kept the information of my pregnancy from you," she said, teasing mostly. "Not that I didn't want you to know, but like I said earlier. It's hard to know when the right time is to tell anyone," she said with a frown at about the time they arrived at the physician's room. A light sigh drifted from her lips, but she entered and smiled at the man.
He asked her several questions, and she answered all of them to the best of her abilities. After he was done asking her questions he made her lie still for the examination; which didn't take as long as she'd feared it might. "You're still in the early stages, but everything seems to be normal," he informed her with a warm smile. "If you notice any unusual changes I want you to come see me immediately. Other than that, though, I would like to see you about once a month for a regular check up between now and the last month of your pregnancy. At that point you'll need to increase your visits to once a week so that we can keep an eye out for signs of labor," he said cheerily as she stood and adjusted her dress to make herself more comfortable. "Any questions for me?"
"Not unless you have some miracle cure for these awful hormones," she said with a pout that made the physician laugh. "I'm afraid not, dear," he responded with a shake of his head.

He would merely shrug when she commented that the physician worked for him and would have told him that she was pregnant, “Not necessarily. He’s been my family’s physician for years, there’s not much he could do that would warrant him feeling as if he has to suck up to me,” he would say with a laugh. Upon hearing her comment about not knowing when the right time was he’d laugh softly and move to gently kiss her forehead, “If you ever think that you’re pregnant I want to know. If anything were to happen I would want to be there for you,” he would say with a frown, though he didn’t even really want to think about it. When they reached the physician’s rooms he would wait quietly while he conducted the examination, though he did watch and listen with fascination. His late wife hadn’t let him accompany her to see the physician when she was pregnant, so this aspect of it was new and rather interesting to him. When the man said that she needed to visit every month, he would give his wife a pointed look though he wouldn’t say anything, knowing that she would take care of herself and their child. Upon hearing her ask about some miracle cure for the hormones he would laugh and shake his head, “He might not have anything, but I do have patience and understanding, if it makes it any easier,” he would finally speak, offering her a charming grin.

She'd nodded in response to his comments about the physician and telling him if she ever thought that she was pregnant. That was such a huge part of why she loved the man. He was so sweet and thoughtful; always seeming to say the right thing at the right time. Always so focused on her feelings and being there for her. It was enough to make any woman melt. And definitely had that effect on her. When he spoke up after the physician said he didn't have a cure for the hormones and said what he did about patience and understanding she would flash him a bright smile. "It does," she said as she moved across the room to wrap her arms around him in a hug. She lifted onto her tip toes to press a kiss to his cheek before she took his hand and led him from the physician's chambers. "Thank you," she said as they left the room together. "You being there with me made it a lot easier to bear than if I'd had to go by myself," she elaborated. She really didn't like seeing the physician, but knew that being pregnant would mean that she would have to see the man regularly now. She would do her best to bear it with a lady like grace, even if she wasn't the most lady like woman in the world sometimes. The thought that seeing the physician regularly would mean a better pregnancy was the only thing that made the idea of seeing him bearable. "So," she said as she turned her attention back to her husband. "Now that I'm no longer horribly nauseated. Would you like to do something together," she asked, chewing on her lip. "I know you have other things to do, but when you get some time?"
