General Behavior: Typically Nic is a very laid-back kind of person. He thoroughly enjoys the little things in life, and unlike most men will actually take the time to "stop and smell the roses." No, he's not gay or feminine, he just knows that there are little things in life that make it worth living. He thoroughly despised deception and anyone who has a "I'm better than you are because my station is higher" attitude. He's the type that believes there is nothing wrong with everyone doing a little bit of hard work. He cut his teeth on manual labor, and a part of him thinks that everyone should have to learn things like that. While it is typically really hard to get him riled; it isn't impossible, and once he is riled it takes a while for him to calm down. He won't cringe at curse words, and actually uses them quite often himself, though he does know when it's inappropriate to curse.

{ H I S T O R Y }

Nioclás McKinnley was born to Caeoimhim and Alana McKinnley. He was their first son, but second child. Alyson, his older sister, knew what it was like for the pair of them to have been the Duke and Duchess of Avlora. Nic, however never learned what it was like to be the son, and rightful heir, of the duchy of Avlora. By the time he was born his father had already been run out of Avlora and Caeoimhim and Alana had decided that there was no point in bringing up the past. They were decided that there was no use in trying to recoup and take back Avlora because they were in love with their new home.

Nic and Alana grew up on a small farm that their parents had managed to procure, so Nic grew up on manual labor. He was constantly caring for the animals and helping to mend both fences and stalls that ornery cows or horses managed to plow through. It was, however, a life that he loved. Some say that if he'd grown up differently he would have hated the farm life, but Nic isn't so sure that's true. While he grew up without a title, he did eventually become a knight and has been to court several times, but none of those times did he feel inclined to stay. Court just doesn't suit him.

When he was around 26 he met Asthore and almost instantly fell in love with the woman. She was absolutely beautiful and he completely adored her. She, like him, had grown up on a farm, so when a knight sought the hand of their oldest daughter, her parents were more than happy to see her married to him. They purchased their own, larger, farm not far from either of their parents' farms. Together they spent time tending their farm and loving each other. A few years after they married, Asthore came to him with the wonderful news that she was pregnant. And so Nic, being the man that he was, was thrilled and began preparing their little farm house for the addition of a child.

Asthore's little sister, Brianna, caught word that her sister had become pregnant and, with the approval of both Nic and her parents, decided to come to their farm to help her sister during her pregnancy and at least the first few month's of the baby's life. What none of them could have prepared themselves for is what happened with the baby. Asty's pregnancy was seemingly uncomplicated until labor hit. When labor hit was when everything seemed to go wrong. She was losing too much blood and both Nic and Brianna instantly knew there was nothing they would be able to do to save her. They did, however, attempt to save the child. When Bran was finally born, for it was a boy, they wrapped him up and handed him to his mother. Both mother and child died shortly after. To this day the loss of his wife and son is a pain he cannot seem to get past.
