General BEHAVIOR: Gwen is a very kind and loving person, and she used to get along with almost anyone. Now, however, she is afraid of men in general, though particularly those with power that they can abuse. She does not like when people fight, and generally falls into the role of peacekeeper. She dislikes hurting people or animals, but she does carry a knife with her for protection as she refuses to let another man touch her in such a painful way again. She loves to make things and to sing, though she is a little shy about singing in front of others. Gwen also has a love for children, and is much more likely to sing for them, or read to them than she is for an adult or someone around her own age. Gwen has a deep love for learning and sharing knowledge, and she used to often be found with her nose in a book of some sort.

{ H I S T O R Y }


Gweneth is the youngest child born to Ragallach and Muiriol MacKay, the Baron and Baroness of Skyvale in the Southern Kingdom of Ireland. Gwen was born shortly after her fraternal twin brother, Gaeth. Sadly, the Baroness died after giving birth to the twins due to complications during pregnancy. Due to this, Ragallach holds a deep resentment for his two younger children.The oldest MacKay (sibling) is their sister, Marsali, and their father basically has her filling in her mother's shoes with helping to run the household and to make sure that the younger MacKay's learn what they are supposed to. However, Ragallach followed customs and has named his oldest son, Lugh, as his heir. Ragallach sent Lugh to become a page at 7, because he wanted his heir to be a trained knight. However, when Gaeth asked to follow in Lugh's footsteps, it was expressly forbidden. Gaeth and Gwen could both tell that their father resented them, and the twins shared an even more special bond because of it. Gaeth, however, could not stand living at home any longer when the twins were sixteen and that is when Ragallach finally agreed to let his son leave; however, he was not to become a knight but join the Southern Army instead. That is when things truly got bad for Gwen, as her father started spending a lot more time at the palace and she somehow managed to catch the interest of the King. Without Gaeth around to keep her safe, and with her father slipping more and more into his cups, the King saw an opportunity to take advantage of the poor girl, right under everyone's nose. The King made threats to keep her silent, after all, her father was only a Baron, and the King could easily ruin him and what was left of her family. So she kept her shame a secret and was forced to do the King's will time and again whenever at the palace. When she heard of the King's death she could not have been more pleased, except that is also when she did not get her monthly. She ignored that, not feeling comfortable enough to talk to her distant sister, and not having a mother to speak with. She was also starting to get sick, but figured it was a cold.Then four months went by and her body started changing, and so she started to wear bigger clothes. Until finally it became rather obvious: she was carrying the King's bastard child. Gwen refused to tell anyone who the father was, even when her own father threatened her and then kicked her out of his home. Her brothers and sister were not home the day their father found out, as Gaeth was in the Army, and Lugh and Marsali were doing other errands. Gwen now seeks refuge with the Southern Queens, as she has no other idea of whom she can turn to.
