General Behavior: While Elaine can be opinionated and clash with other people, specifically her brother-in-law Teague, she is a very sweet tempered woman. More than anything else, being a mother suits her. She just seems to have the mothering instinct; and rarely allows nursemaids or caretakers for her children when not necessary. That being said; life and trying to be a Duchess does make for less time with her children and the rest of her family than she would like. While she was raised an only child, she has lived with the Hallows for so long that she's a very family oriented person. She does act a bit less like the Duchess of Irongrove than Aithne Hallows, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that Aithne has been the Duchess for so long, and Elaine is a bit less assertive than her mother in law. That's not to say she makes for a bad Duchess, so much as she feels odd trying to be the Duchess while Aithne is still around. It's not always easy to transition those sort of things. She might not always agree with everything her brother-in-laws say or do, but she loves them all dearly, none-the-less. Though she does tend to feel bad for Lukan being married to that weird Mari woman.

Elaine was born the only child of the Duke and Duchess of Braford in the southern kingdom. Her mother died when she was only two, so she was raised by her father for the vast majority of her life. He did his best to raise her into a proper young lady, and she did her best to be a proper young lady. She probably would have turned out a bit more proper if she'd had a woman's influence, though. That's not to say she doesn't still try her best to be a proper lady, but she's not always the best at it. There are times when the fact that she was raised mostly by her father show through, and she just can't seem to help that fact. She has learned a lot from watching her mother-in-law, though.
When she was in her early twenties her father informed her that an old friend's wife had invited her to the Eastern kingdom to meet her oldest son, and so she went. A marriage was arranged between the two of them, and over time she grew to love the man. There was just something about Killian Hallows that made him easy to fall in love with. And when she became pregnant, she fell in love with him all over again. He constantly doted on her throughout her pregnancy and would take the time to sit her down and play and sing songs for her, which she thought was amazing. And then she went into labor and managed to deliver two healthy babies; a boy and a girl. They became the light of her life, and the center of attention at Irongrove. Her brother-in-laws, especially Teague, were extremely helpful with the twins. And between her mothering instinct and her brother-in-laws' want to spoil their niece and nephew, the pair of them only rarely needed nursemaids or caretakers.
