His attention had flashed to his sister when he watched her walk past him. He wanted to stop her, but figured she probably hadn't seen him. Yes, because the one in the blue dress was most definitely Ranait, even if the little one in the maroon dress had looked a good deal like his little sister. Ranait he would recognize anywhere. He shook his head and decided to back track towards the girl who was wearing the maroon dress to see what he might be able to get out of her. However, midway there he was distracted by the sight of the grand duchess of the north and couldn't resist the urge to wander over to her. Truth be told; he'd grown rather fond of her company recently. "Good evening," he said as he walked up behind her, though when he took note of her mostly sheer dress it was all he could do to repress a groan. He definitely had not expected her to wear something like that. Not that he minded, but..gads. He shook his head to distract himself and reached for a mug of ale on the table closest to her. He brought it to his lips and took a rather large swallow of the still cold liquid. "Fancy seeing you here," he teased with a half-smirk.

She laughed at Moira's greeting and suddenly felt the urge to twirl about, which she did very briefly. "I thought something different might be nice for a change," she admitted a bit sheepishly. When Moira said what she did about firing servants and her job she laughed again. "I don't think it looks bad," she said as she placed a gentle hand on Moira's arm. It felt nice to be able to treat her queen more like a friend in a public place. And the only reason she felt she might get away with it was because this was a masquerade. "I think you pull it off quite well, but I probably wouldn't have chosen something like it," she admitted. "So maybe their idea of what a single lady should wear is better than mine," she said with a grin and a wink. She had kind of noticed Esras's look, and had offered him a brief smile, but her attention was diverted relatively quickly when she glanced across the room and spotted her husband. "Excuse me," she said to Moira and the others before she spun around and glided across the room towards Alpin.
"Good evening, sir," she said with a giggle. "I couldn't help but notice that you appear to be rather alone," she continued, mostly joking with him. "I do have a husband who is supposed to show up at some point, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind me dancing with someone else for a change," she teased softly. The adoration on her face for her husband was written plainly for anyone to see. It was also quite obvious that she was joking if her words could be heard by anyone else in the room.

Aislin stood nervously in a corner as she watched the dancers in the center. Her eyes went dancing themselves as she made way around the floor quietly and effortlessly. Not that she was trying to get everyone's attention, no. In fact, she was trying capture one man's eye in general. Not that she could tell where he was located at specifically, but she figured if she could find his eyes, then maybe he could take notice to her. Indeed she had taken a liking to him in the two weeks that he had been living at the Estate. For some reason, she wanted to keep his attention on her, she was a child in that way and felt odd just for even trying to do this. Without much further notion, she walked about the dance floor gracefully and continued on until she was able to find his eyes, or what she thought were his and if they were, she would continue walking, her chin just resting over her shoulder as if to be inviting him or something. And with that she would stop at the other side of the floor and watched those who had partners continue to dance. Maybe she should try to stretch out her wings some and speak to the good people of the Southern Kingdom. Then again, she was just a Lady.. Nothing more. So when her eyes traveled across the room once again, she spotted a women who seemed to be a bit shorter then she was, wearing an off white, cream colored gown and a matching mask with a rose. Standing next to two gentlemen who were there. Once there she'd curtsey and smiled through her mask. "Good evening gentlemen, mi'lady." She greeted softly before rising back up. "I trust you all are enjoying the masquerade and the wedding of my Queen's." She questioned softly. She was nervous to speaking to people with whom she hadn't met before let alone, will probably not meet again. But she also figured that this was as good of a time as ever to get back into the court of things.

Treise had been considering joining Moira when she heard a familiar voice from behind her. Though, as soon as it rang in her ears she would whirl around, a broad grin flashing over her face, “Evening!” she would practically chirp, excited to see him here. Honestly, she wasn’t quite sure if he would come, but she’d been hoping. Honestly, she’d missed him since she’d left Sunil; his banishment being lifted also meant that there wasn’t any point in her sticking around his home. She also really missed the pup that she’d helped with, but that was a different story. When he shook his head and reached for a mug she would blink, her head tipping a bit to the side as she wondered what that was about, though when he spoke again she would let the thought slide, “Me? I’m the Grand Duchess to the sister of the Queen who just got married, of course I’m here,” she would laugh, “You, on the other hand, are Mr. Anti-Social, I’m actually rather surprised that you’re here,” she would joke, though after speaking she would finally allow her gaze to roam over him. She would gently bite her lip as she did so, thinking that there was definitely wrong with the people that could even try to dislike him; he was much too good looking to be hated. When she realized that she was ogling him she would turn her direction towards the table and pick up a glass of wine, sipping it as she lets her gaze return to the Marquess.

He had still been awkwardly inching his was closer to the woman in the blue dress who was surrounded by a group of people when she suddenly broke away and walked towards him. A relieved smile would grace his lips, though when she came up and spoke to him in soft tones about her husband he couldn’t help but smirk, knowing that she was joking but figuring it would be fun to play along. “Evening, m’lady,” he would murmur softly, “I am rather lonely, it seems that my wife has yet to notice me,” he would say, following it with a mock sigh. Upon hearing her say that her husband wouldn’t mind her dancing with somebody else for a change he couldn’t help but smirk, “I certainly hope not,” he would say before reaching for her hand and tugging her against him, snaking his other arm around her to rest his hand on her back so that he could slowly maneuver them so that they were dancing, “Though, I don’t think a threat from a husband would have stopped me from dancing with you anyways,” he would tease her, “I don’t think my wife would mind if I danced with another lady, either,” he would joke, winking playfully at her, “Especially not one as pretty as you are,” he would assure her, grinning wildly.

Post by Teague Hallows on Jul 29, 2014 7:31:02 GMT
Actually had to step back when she hugged him so suddenly. But he wrapped his arms around her the moment he noticed she was actually touching him. There was no bars between them. He blushed a little under his mask too. "I was released not to long after you left your brother in law's estate." He admitted to her. "My brother, Killian, the Duke got me out. He brought his family with him and is spending time with them before the tourney tomorrow. So I am here to represent the Hallows." He insisted more so and then grinned a little more. He felt like he was talking too much; probably his nerves. In technicalities the largest crowd Teague had ever been in was a family reunion. That's a joke. Sort of. Ok not really. But it's funny nonetheless.
Upon asking why he was there he just stared at her and gave her a smile. He didn't know how to answer her in the least bit so he used his movements. He leaned down and kissed her. His eyes fluttering closed as he did. A part of his nerves jumped into his chest but he ignored them. His feelings had confused him for the 2 weeks.

Post by Cinaed Frighil on Jul 29, 2014 21:55:17 GMT
Cinaed glanced at Andraste as she spoke to him, his head tilting a little. "My sister would not mind being grouped with another fine Lady Knight." He insisted. He knew Andraste was a Vicereine but he kept the thought to himself. When Lorcan came up to the crowd, Cori completely zoned in on him. His eyes shot between the two and he tilted his head. Oh so that's how this was. He smiled a little when Cori said she would dance with Lorcan. Cinaed sort of stood there watching Lorcan as he had never really had been introduced. Though being a Lord in the Eastern Court he had knowledge of being in the same vicinity. Never much of looking at him though. Lorcan held some sort of story though. That's what Cinaed caught on. But he knew his sister was not one to meddle. And neither was he. Both had been taught to choose conversations and battles wisely. As Andraste began to depart, Cinaed was watching his sister go off with Lorcan. His arms at ease against his back. When he heard a young voice creep on him, Cinaed almost jumped. But didn't to keep his composure. He looked over his shoulder for a second to look up. Since. Everyone seemed to be taller or of his height. But then his eyes went down when he couldn't see anything up there. Blinking his blues at her. She was so small that she stole a smile from Cinaed. "Hello." He would respond. Something about how she held herself made him notice she was a shy little thing. But she looked absolutely stunning. He could tell he was a good couple years her senior though. He didn't know what else to say to her but he would try. Since she seemed to be a little startled by the crowd. "I would introduce myself but I think that would just kill these sorts of things. So.. How is your night fairing for you?" He'd try something easy?

Post by Llewella Naess on Jul 29, 2014 22:54:50 GMT
Llewella actually sighed when her husband came through the doors. She was so relieved to see him finally get through the doors. And his entrance? Well. That was classic of the man. She would give a chuckle when he'd finally end up beside her. "I would give you a perfect score my love." She would say to him. Looking up at him made her have to move her wolf mask. As she lowered her head she placed her hand on his forearm. Even with her fingers spread out, they did not cover the surface of his arm. Their size difference was almost absent from the little Queen's mind though. She didn't notice it much anymore unless someone pointed it out.
When her eyes hit the Eastern Captain; well she'd know him as just an Easterner for his own size. She would smile when she'd realize the garbs the one with fire hair had Llewella looked at her husband again. "It seems we have a sister among the Eastern Irish." Oh the moment when Llewella finds out the woman she had been admiring from afar was actually a knight and not just a lady dancing with a man from the East.

Post by Ciar MacAteer on Jul 30, 2014 2:05:17 GMT
Ciar was practically bubbling over with excitement to be attending her very first Masquerade Ball. She was not the sort of girl that usually liked dresses, she detested them in fact, but she could not let her 'brothers' Lorcan and Connall down and she had to dress every inch the proper lady. Luckily she would not be too inclined to embarrass either one of them as she would be wearing a dark purple mask and it was not as though many really knew who she was anyway. Ciar was more than willing to suffer wearing a dress for the night since it meant that she was somewhere she had never been before, the Southern Palace, and it would prove to be quite the adventure. She was especially excited for the knight games! Taking a deep breath, Ciar entered the ball room wearing a purple dress with long, sheer sleeves of a lighter purple. She was a little late, but her brothers would not be able to complain that she had not dressed like a lady. That is, if they could even recognize her, as she usually wore pants much like Cori did. Her brown eyes surveyed the others from behind her mask and a nervous fluttering seemed to settle in the pit of her stomach. She paused, briefly, as she took in everything, and a grin graced her lips as she was sure she recognized her brother and Cori as the red hair gave the lady knight away. Ciar's own dark brown hair was pinned up with curls falling about her face. (( Like this. )) She thought she might also recognize Connall, and that merely because of how tall he was, like her brother. Other than that, she didn't recognize anyone. She then made her way to one of the tables, her movements graceful and befitting that of a Lady, or perhaps a dancer. Once she reached the closest one, she picked up a drink and downed it in the most un-ladylike fashion. She schooled her features to an exterior calm, until a shit-eating grin took over her lips. Liquid courage now burning through her veins, she lowered the empty drink back to the table and made her way to the dance floor. She didn't need to have a partner to dance - not that she knew anyone to ask anyway. So she joined the couples on the dance floor and danced gracefully by herself, getting lost in the music and the excitement.

Clio found herself alone once again amongst the crowd in the Southern kingdom. She sighed but shrugged and made way towards one of the tables that was covered with just mugs of ale and wine on top of them and reached for one of the thinner goblets on the table and held it gracefully to her lips. Her eyes would dance across the floor curiously before she turned to one pair that stood next to them. She knew one of these men had to be her beloved Connall and good friend, Lorcan, but she couldn't think as who could be the other few around them. The female maybe Ina? And if so, the other two would be totally unknown by her. Her eyes looked longer then she should have at the two men which she didn't know. When she caught herself starring, she would turned roughly and accidentally bump into Duncan unaware of his rank or status and caused quite a spill over the table. Of course she would do this, being her, she would fall over and make a complete fool of her self. She gasped and turned around quickly to the man in complete shock and surprise. "Sire.. I must apologize. I..." She couldn't find words to express how horrible she felt. Let alone how embarrassed and she knew what would be awaited at home after this.

When he got to his wife and she said that she'd give him a perfect score he would smile, though he dipped his head and only showed it to her, "You're biased," he would tease her, snaking an arm around her shoulders and pressing her lightly against his side as he moved his other hand to gently trace his fingers over her baby belly, "I wish I could have seen your entrance, though," he would mumble, obviously put off by it. He wasn't sure exactly what had caused her to move faster than him, but it certainly did irritate him a bit. He wasn't irritated at HER, though; more irritated at him self for not being here when she arrived.
After a moment or two of just looking down at her he would glance back up and let his gaze wander around the room, a stoic look enveloping his features. He didn't even have to try in order to manage the expression, it was almost natural for him now. Though, as he noticed couples pairing off to dance he would look once again to his wife before moving to gently take her hand and lead her to the floor. He figured it would make her happy if he danced with her at least once. Once they were there he would slide one hand around to rest on her back as he collected her hand with the other. He wasn't a very good dancer, and something simple would have to do.

Quinlan had been minding his own business sort of. In the sense he was watching everyone's move. Noticing Andraste roaming quietly. He noted she was a Lady Knight from the Eastern Kingdom. A smile went to his lips towards her when she'd look at him. Upon turning his head now though he noticed the Queen, no. Queen Morgan, since there was two Queens now, standing infront of him. She told him to dance. "I was.. just making my--." He then acknowledged how she asked was more of a 'now' than a 'please'.
He frowned a little and moved to take her hand if she offered it and placed his hand against her lower back. "I'm sorry if I disappoint you.." He'd whisper to her. "Your Majesty.. I don't really know much about dancing besides the very basics." This was probably the most the man had ever said in one shot. A sad realization but an honest one. He did talk the most to the two Queens though. He did enjoy both women and thought of them very highly. For different reasons but in the end still good reasons. He began to dance with her and he was a little sloppy but he would only stagger if he felt like he was going to step on the Queen's foot.

She frowned when he started to insist that he was doing something else, but then realized it hadn't really been a question. She took his hand and placed the other as close to the back of his shoulder as she could manage. When they started dancing and he apologized she shook her head. "You won't disappoint me just because you don't know much more than the basics," she assured the man gently. She always felt like she should speak to him in a really soft tone. He just seemed so...sensitive. She shook her head at that thought and flashed him an encouraging smile. "Just follow my lead, and I'll make sure it looks like you're actually leading," she said softly as she lead him around the dance floor. As she had promised, though, she managed to make it look like he was doing most of the work. "You know," she remarked in an offhand way. "You should try to smile a bit more often. I get that you're a captain, but it would do Abi and I some good if you would at least pretend you were having fun," she said with the closest thing she could get to a pout directed at him.

Some part of him was being wild tonight, so when she said that she wasn’t used to seeing him in a shirt he would wink at her, “I wonder why that might be?” he would ask, though he really hadn’t meant it sexually. More like he constantly had to save her and thus ruined his shirts, which meant he would have to go shirtless for a bit, almost as if he was telling her that she owed him a dance for everything that he’d done for her. When she smiled at him he couldn’t help but grin back, the expression broadening when she agreed to dance with him, however insulting she was trying to be about it. He would gently grab her hand and tug her close to himself, resting his hand on her lower back as he spins them towards the floor. He was actually quite good at dancing, though he didn’t tell very many people; Seara had insisted on teaching him so that they could dance properly on their wedding night, and the knowledge had just stuck with him. “Hmm, it seems you’re at least good at it,” he would tease her as he maneuvered them around the floor, not even giving her the chance to try to lead as he figured that she would want to do.

She actually genuinely felt a comfort in Esras not looking at her like a piece of meat. Or Aeden for that matter but she pretty much expected Aeden of all people to take the bait. That's for sure. Her smile hit when he called her somebody and then she would sigh. "Ah, but you are my friend. And if I am somebody, then you must be too." "I do know that pain. I have a twin sister." She'd laugh a little. "She may not look the type but Morgan practically knocks me off my feet when we gain the chance to see one another again." She watched Esras turn to shove her Commander. A warm smile given to Aeden from the Northern Queen. It was affectionate but nothing to the tune of what she'd do to Connall.
She was happy to hear the sharp tones of the commoner that had walked in literally after Aeden's side. She noted the age similarities between her and her heir. Something clicked and she gave Aeden a look. But once Renny had her attention she was stuck standing there to help aid Esras' puppy dog face that Moira felt a ping of pain hit her for her heir. She could not choose between Esras or Renny so.. She had to deal with both at the same time. Grinning widely as Renny had ignited that friendship tenfold with a twirl. It was nice to see the girl's true colours out in public in front of others' eyes. Upon the compliment she'd give Renny a chuckle. "Oh my dear.. I just feel like I am partially naked.. That is all." She admitted. Between women. Though Esras and Aeden were there. She expected Esras to just ignore it and continue to sulk. And Aeden to just consider respecting a woman who could hold her assets with class and not.. like an overly 'nice' lady read: whore. When she insisted it was something she wouldn't choose Moira would nod briskly in agreement. "Yes possibly. Maybe I'll catch the eyes of a certain someone. I think that's what they told me." She admitted again. But then Renny had seen her husband and Moira would give her a small wave. Looking at Esras finally and frowning just lightly. She went to say something but the Black Smith lady did. Moira's eyes looked at her and then back to Esras. Moira figured that Sybil's suggestion was better than anything she could possibly say to him. But the suggestion was a nice one. She considered it too. But then she thought to say it anyways. "Or ask the young lady to dance. It seems your Uncle has invited her here for something." She caught on even just a little.
If Esras took either choice, she looked at Aeden and smiled. "I will be going to get something heavy to drink... If you wish you can join me." She would pat his arm kindly as she passed everyone. Walking to the table when her cousin poured some wine on Duncan. She bit her lip as she walked quicker and grabbed a glass of wine. Trying to hide any chuckle to her cousin's mishap. She felt guilty for wishing to laugh. Only knowing that pain first hand. She would lean with her back facing the table to take a sip of her wine.
