She couldn’t help but groan softly when he kissed her back, slowly moving her hands from his face to wrap her arms around his neck, practically clinging to him. When the kiss ended and he pulled back a bit she would leave her arms around his neck, though she would bite her bottom lip gently. When he commented on her knowing how to torture a man she couldn’t help but laugh, a wide grin suddenly take over her face as she lets her grip on him slacken, letting space be put between their bodies. She couldn’t help but want to kiss him again, though, and her eyes remained on his lips, pretty much fantasizing about it. She hadn’t kissed very many men before, and he was the only one that she was sure would haunt her until she had gotten another. Before he could move away she would shift to gently brush her lips against his once again, a brief kiss that was nothing like the previous one, before pulling back, “I’m sorry,” she would whisper, “I just had to,” she would explain with a shrug, though a smile still remained on her face. Her thoughts didn’t move with his, instead thinking about what it would be like to be able to kiss him whenever she wanted, without having to apologize. Her mind even ventured so far as to think about what it would be like to lay with him, to wake up with him in the bed next to her. So, she wasn’t as rough and tumble as she liked people to think; she was actually rather romantic at heart.

His thoughts of self doubt fled when she brushed her lips over his again and a sigh fell from his lips. He gave a light sigh and forced himself to step back from her a little bit. Doubt clouded his mind once again, and when she apologized he could only shake his head. "You don't have to apologize," he assured her gently. He didn't want her to ever feel bad about kissing him or anything like that. Even if he knew nothing could come of his attraction to her. "But," he said, his voice portraying the doubt that screamed through his mind. "It would probably be best if we didn't do that again," he said on a sigh. "Not that I don't want to. I would love to be able to just kiss you whenever," he assured her. "But. Life just doesn't work that way. You're the grand duchess. All I am is a Marquess," he said, and by his tone it was obvious that this fact pained him a great deal. "You're absolutely gorgeous and an amazing person. Me? Not so much," he said as he forced himself to step back a bit farther, running a hand through his hair again. "Gods what I wouldn't give for things to be different," he muttered. Pain flashed across his face, but he quickly schooled his expression.

His assurance that she didn’t have to apologize didn’t help very much, as he’d just stepped away from her and she could see the doubt on his face. She just couldn’t understand why that expression was present; he’d kissed her back, and acted like he genuinely liked to kiss her. Though, when he said that they probably shouldn’t kiss again a look of hurt would flash, unbidden, across her face. She should have known that he would have this reaction. She never should have even thought that they might work together. When he went on to say that he would like to be able to kiss her she only grew confused, not quite sure where he was going with this until he spoke about her being a grand duchess and him only being a marquess. She would stare at him for a moment, her heart aching as she realized that it might be best to just stop now, but she couldn’t do that. And besides, she didn’t care much for her reputation if that’s what he was worried about. “Exactly…I’m a grand duchess,” she would say, suddenly realizing that there wasn’t much that anybody could do if she wanted to court a Marquess. Or even marry one, if it ever came to that. When he said those thing about her, and then went on to berate himself she would step towards him again, reaching out to grab onto his arm, “Don’t say that,” she would say, her brows furrowing slightly, “You’re not a bad person,” she would assure him, reaching up to brush her fingers over his face only to think better of it and let her arm drop; he might not be as accepting of her touch right now. “Things don’t need to be different, Alasdair,” she would murmur, looking into his eyes, “The only person that can refuse to let us court or whatever would be Moira…and I don’t think that she would care,” she would say, trying to make him understand.

He closed his eyes at her comment about her being a grand duchess. Obviously she saw it as a benefit, where he saw it as an obstacle. When she brushed her fingers over his face pain flashed into his eyes again when he opened them to look at her. "You're kidding, right? The queen hates me," he said with a shake of his head. "My little sister was her favorite lady in waiting, and I haven't exactly been the best older brother," he said with a non-humorous laugh. "Not to mention; I'm pretty sure she would flip shit over her grand duchess courting a Marquess. Especially if it were to get serious," he said with a shake of his head. "She's not going to let you marry just anyone, Treise. You are one of the most powerful people, besides her, in the kingdom," he sighed. "I'm not trying to be rude to you, just realistic. She's not going to let someone as low as a Marquess have access to her grand duchess and the grand duchy. As much as it pains me to say that, I'm not stupid enough to believe Moira would ever approve of us," he said, shaking his head.

She would remain quiet as he spoke, each of his words wreaking havoc on her emotional state. Part of her tried to agree with him, but she knew Moira better than he did. She would frown as he went on and on, trying to prove his point, though she wouldn’t interrupt him, not wanting to make him feel as if what he was saying was wrong, though she thought that she knew better. When he was finally done she would force a slight smile onto her face, “But…you don’t know Moira. She was forced to marry somebody that she didn’t want to marry. She wouldn’t want to do the same thing to me. And besides, the Grand duchy needs heirs, anyways,” she would explain to him, trying to joke a little bit on the last part of it despite the fact that it actually was true, “And we’re friends. She would want me to be happy,” she would assure him, though it sounded incredibly naïve, even to her. After a moment or two of thinking she would bite gently at her lip, “And if she isn’t willing to consider that, then I’m sure my sister would be fine as a Grand Duchess…or she could find somebody else to do the job,” she would say with a shrug, though the idea hurt. She’d worked hard to maintain her title, but it was true. If Moira wasn’t the person she thought her to be then she wouldn’t want to be her Grand Duchess anyways.

His heart soared and pounded at her words, and he starred at her incredulously. And suddenly he found himself stepping closer to her and grabbing her arm to pull her against him. He didn't give her the chance to pull away from him as he claimed her lips with his own again, kissing her passionately. After a moment or two he would pull back from the kiss. "You," was all he could manage to say as he tilted his head up slightly to press a kiss to her forehead. "You are an absolutely amazing woman, and I don't know how anyone could ever deny you something," he said with a laugh. "You do realize, though, that if she doesn't let you remain a grand duchess, that I won't be able to give you quite the life that you're used to? I mean, Sunil has enough money, but no where near the riches that a grand duchy does," he said with a laugh and a shake of his head. "I can't offer you extravagance, but I can offer you the necessities and some creature comforts. As well as a puppy and the devotion of a man whose completely besotted with you," he said, only partially joking.

When he suddenly stepped forward to grab her arm and pull her against him she was startled, instinctively moving away from him only to be trapped in a kiss. She would melt against him, wrapping her arms around his neck again as she kisses him back just as passionately. He must be seeing things her way, then. When the kiss was over she was breathing rather heavily, her eyes remaining closed as he kissed her forehead though when he began to speak they would flutter open. When he said that she was amazing she couldn’t help but smile slightly, shrugging, “I try,” she would comment, falling silent as he went on to say that if she couldn’t remain a grand duchess that he wouldn’t be able to provide the things she was used to, “I’m not petty. I don’t care about materialistic things,” she would say with a smirk, “Though, you do realize that if I do get to remain a Grand Duchess, that you’ll be the Grand Duke? And that you won’t be able to go around dressing like a farmer,” she would tease him, letting one arm slip from around his neck in order to playfully tug at his shirt. When he went on to say that he couldn’t offer her extravagance, and then the absolutely heart-melting words that followed she couldn’t help but grin, leaning in to gently kiss his cheek, “That’s all I need,” she would assure him, letting her forehead rest against his for a moment or two.

He laughed at her comment about him not being able to go around dressed like a farmer if she were to keep her title. "I do not dress like a farmer," he said, feigning hurt at her accusation. However, when she grinned, kissed his cheek, and said that was all she needed he couldn't help the smile that curved his lips. He could definitely fall in love with this woman, if he wasn't already there. The thought terrified him for a moment, but he pushed back his fear and closed his eyes briefly when she leaned her forehead against his. She really was an amazing woman, and it was then that he knew he would fight heaven and hell both to be able to keep her by his side. So long as she would have him; he would do whatever necessary to keep her around and happy. "Good. Because by the time all of this is over with, I may not even have a march to offer you," he said with a laugh, teasing her. At least he hoped he was only teasing her. "I mean, I suppose there are other kingdoms, but I'm sure you wouldn't want to leave."

When he commented that by the time all of this was done he might not have a march she could only laugh, "Are you trying to say that I'm destructive? Or that courting me would be destructive?" she would ask jokingly, "Don't worry, if I get mad at you I wouldn't burn down the whole march. Only the barn," she would tease, winking at him. When he said that there were other kingdoms but that she wouldn't want to leave she would blink, actually thinking about it for a moment. As she thought about it she realized that she didn't care much about where she was, only that she was happy. And right now, she would only be happy with Alasdair. "There isn't a place in this world that I wouldn't follow you to," she would assure him, smiling as she moves the hand that she'd tugged on his shirt with to gently grab one of his, "And by the way, you do dress like a farmer," she would tease him, her nose wrinkling playfully, "You're wearing trousers! What happened to wearing kilts?" she would ask with a laugh, wanting to lighten the conversation. Sure, she liked the romantic stuff, but she could only take these deep conversations and emotions in small doses, or else she'd go crazy.
