Morgan Coughlan
Morgan had just climbed into her saddle when she heard Abi's voice shouting something about Pearblossom and a horse took off thundering past her. Her heart clenched and she growled softly, wanting nothing more than to take off after Abaigael and talk sense into her, but there wasn't much she could do. "Right. Because running away after a misunderstanding is the route to take," she growled, though whether or not it was loud enough for the woman to hear was another story. "And running to mommy and daddy after a fight with your lover who is not only a woman, but the queen is terribly smart. Especially when they sent you to court in the first place because they caught you kissing a girl," she growled to no one in particular before she spurred her own horse into a gallop. No, she wasn't about to chase after Abaigael. If she really wanted to go running to mommy and daddy over something so trivial she could have at it, but she better not go getting mad at her when they didn't welcome her home with the open arms that she may or may not be expecting. Irrationality was a terrible suit for..well, anyone really, but it was an especially terrible thing to have in combination with frayed emotions. Right. 'cause she was one to talk. Going out on a ride on her own as the queen of the kingdom. That was brilliant too, wasn't it?

Abaigael, unfortunately, was able to hear what the Queen had to say, but after the spear of pain it caused in her chest disappeared it only made her angrier. Of all the things to get mad about and run away, she never figured she would do so after something so stupid, and it almost gave her reason to turn around, but then she remembered the Queen slamming the door behind her and locking it and she let any ideas of running back to her disappear. Honestly at this point she just wanted to talk to somebody she trusted that wasn’t Morgan, and the closest person to that was her father. She wasn’t really thinking about the fact that it wouldn’t be okay for her to tell her father all of the details of her relationship, she just knew that she wanted to be comforted and he was the only person she could think of that could do the job.
She wasn’t even thinking about where the stallion was going; the only thing she could think of was how satisfying the wind on her face felt, and how good it was going to be to visit her family, if only for a day or two. Which was definitely a bad thing as when the horse slowed she had no idea where she was. She had been intent on taking one of the roads, but somehow the stallion had managed to lead them into a forest, and she had lost the guards if they had even tried to follow her in the first place. She would swallow thickly and pull back on the reins, looking around almost frantically as she tries to figure out where she was. She would gently pat the horse’s neck as she tried to figure something out, but by this point her mind was racing. She had a feeling that she was still on the palace grounds, as she hadn’t passed any walls or anything of the sort, but she didn’t know where AT in the palace grounds she was. She knew that the estate was enormous, and she had only ever been out riding with people who knew where they were going.

Morgan Coughlan
She was intent on riding off on her own, and had just spurred her horse into a trot when two guards came galloping towards her like the devil himself was chasing them. "Majesty!" they called out in unison. "What is it?" she called back, terror gripping her heart, though she didn't know why. "Abaigael. She's lost. I mean. We lost her. I mean. She lost us," one of them called out, but before he could finish what he was trying to say she kicked her mare up into a gallop. It was probably a really good thing that this particular mare, while gentle enough for almost anyone, had actually been bred for speed and endurance. The mare's hooves pounded against the ground in a rhythm that seemed to match the thundering of her heart. Fortunately she knew the whole of the palace grounds like the back of her hand, and the mare had grown up on these lands, so she was certain between the two of them they would be able to find Abaigael.
It didn't take long. The stud that Abi had taken out didn't know these lands as well as either she or her mare, and he might be bigger, but anyone would be hard pressed to find a horse that could outrun her mare. She pulled the mare up slowly when she saw that Abi was slowing down, and she racked her brain for something to say to the woman that she loved. But that was pretty much useless. Instead she dismounted the mare and ran over to grab at the stud's reins. "Abi," she said, tears choking her and spilling down her cheeks. She was certain the woman would be anything but relieved to see her, but if she still wanted to leave, the least she could do would be to agree to an escort that could see her safely to where ever it was that she wanted to go. "I know you're mad at me, but the guards told me they lost you," she said, the fear written plainly across her face and in her eyes. "If you insist on leaving, would you please at least take someone with you? If not for my sake, then for your own," she pleaded. Yeah. She wasn't being very queenly right now. And if Abi asked it of her she'd probably actually get down on her knees and beg the woman.

She actually was rather relieved at first when Morgan randomly appeared, knowing that even if she told the woman to get lost then she would be able to follow her mare back to the palace and she would actually be able to follow a road to Pearblossom. The relief disappeared, though, when the woman grabbed the stallion’s reins as she choked out her name. She would look down at her, and the sight of the woman’s tears felt like a punch in the stomach. She wanted them to make her angry, she wanted to still be frustrated and let her emotions give way to action, but she just couldn’t. How could she have been so stupid to hurt Morgan like this? When she mentioned the guards telling her that they had lost her she would shift her gaze back to the horse and gently bite her lip, trying hard to ignore the fear that was written across the woman’s face. “What if they were meant to be lost?” she would ask quietly, though her voice was wavering and actually broke towards the end, proving that she hadn’t actually meant it.
She brought her hands up to her face, hiding behind them as her shoulders hunched forward, trying to control her breathing so that she didn’t start to hyperventilate or something. After a moment she would drop her hands and look back towards the Queen again, “I was just…I just wanted…” she would try, her chin quivering as she tried to speak, “I only want-ed to…to talk to somebody,” she finally managed to say, though her eyes hadn’t managed to overflow with tears just yet. She would hang her head, her eyes falling to the ground beneath the stallion’s feet as she tried to muster up some sort of dignity, but eventually failed.

Morgan Coughlan
Her heart clenched as she saw the upset on Abi's face. She hated to see her like this, especially when it was her fault. "I understand," she said, her head dropping slightly. "And you can still talk to someone, but please. Please do it safely," she whispered as she lifted a hand to wipe the tears from her face. "I would hate for something to happen to you, and even more so knowing that it was my fault that it happened," she said softly. Only then did she release the stud's reins and step back. "I won't demand that you do anything. You know that I won't," she said on a sigh. "But I will beg you to do something safe if it ends with you doing something safe," she said, lifting her chin so that she was looking directly at Abi. Another sigh drifted from her lips and she turned to make her way back over to her own mare. She climbed up in the saddle and paused for a moment. "If you want me to beg you, I will," she said softly. "But whatever you do is your decision alone. I can beg you to stay, but ultimately it's up to you if that begging works or not."

Tears started to spill down Abi’s face as she listened to Morgan talk, “I d-don’t even have anybody to…to talk to,” she’d say, her breath hitching in her throat, “No-Nobody would understand…a-and…” she would stumble, her words cut off by a sob only to have her resume right where she left off, “You’re upset wi-with me,” she finished, reaching up to scrub the tears off of her face only to find it useless as more just kept pouring from her eyes. When Morgan said that it was her fault she felt almost like her head was going to explode, “N-no,” she managed to get out past a sob, knowing that it wasn’t her lover’s fault. She felt like a complete and utter mess, feeling more and more like the young, hormonal teenager that she was behaving like rather than softly spoken, gentle being she was known to be. Upon hearing the woman offer to beg she would shake her head violently, “No, I don’t want you to,” she would say, managing to get out at least that sentence without stuttering. When the woman continued on to say that she could beg her to stay she would shake her head again, feeling as if she was spiraling in complete despair, which also made her feel absolutely ridiculous, “Why w-would you even want t-to?” she would ask, referring to all of the hell that she had put the woman through.

Her heart ached as she watched the tears stream down Abi's face and she immediately dismounted again. "I would want to because I love you. I'm not upset with you. I was for a moment because of how you reacted to me taking a long time to respond to you. It wasn't because I was ignoring you. I wasn't. Not at all. It was just that..I was nervous. I thought you might be feeling overwhelmed by all the time that I want to spend with you," she said on a soft sigh. "I know you probably don't see it, but I constantly worry that I'm going to lose you, Abi. I love you. More than you know. And if anything happened to you; if I ever lost you for whatever reason, it would destroy me. Only you have that power over me. You're the only person that I've ever loved like this," she explained in a soft tone. She reached up to place a hand on Abaigael's thigh and rested her forehead against the woman's knee. "Come back with me, please. I promise I won't over react again," she said in a sigh against Abi's leg. "I just want to know that you're safe and nothing bad is going to happen to you."

She choked on her tears when Morgan says that she would want to beg because she loved her, and then went on to explain that she wasn’t ignoring her and that she had just been scared because she thought that Abi had basically felt smothered, which made her feel like a complete and utter asshole. When she went on to say that she would be destroyed without her and that she had never loved anybody like she loved her she felt her heart seize, almost as if the tension in her chest would cause her heart to break into a million pieces, which was only made worse by the woman reaching up to rest her hand on her thigh and her forehead on her knee, “I-I’m sorry,” she whispers, appearing feeling more distraught than she ever had in her life. She would reach down to rest her hand on top of Morgan’s head, only to hear her begin to beg her to come back with her. She would choke back a sob before slipping out of the saddle and wrapping her arms tightly around Morgan’s neck, burying her face in the other woman’s neck as she sobbed for a moment, unable to speak.
Eventually she was able to drag in a deep breath, which helped to calm her enough so that she was able to speak without her speech sounding broken and choppy, “I’m so sorry,” she would repeat, though she kept her face pressed against Morgan’s neck, “I would never just…stop loving you,” she says, her tone sounding rather tormented. “I wasn’t…I wasn’t going to just disappear from your life. I only wanted to leave the room to calm down and then…” she would break off for a moment, closing her eyes. She knew that if she continued speaking that it would only convince the woman that she should blame herself, and that wasn’t the case. “I just…I got so frustrated, and I went to my chambers and I didn’t have anybody to talk to and it just…I just…” she would trail off again, uncertain exactly what she was trying to get across. She would tighten her grip around the woman, grabbing the back of her dress tightly as if to make sure that she couldn’t move away. “I’m sorry for doing this to you,” she would whisper.

When Abi slid down of the horse she wrapped her arms around her and hugged her close. She waited for the sobbing to stop and when it finally did she pulled her head back a little to turn it and kiss Abi's cheek. "Shh. Love. It's okay," she whispered softly. She held her closely for a while, but then gently pulled away, noticing now that the light was starting to fade from the sky. "Let's get back," she said gently and pulled herself away from Abi. She returned to her mare and mounted up. She waited for Abi to mount the stud and then turned both horses back towards the palace. It took a bit longer to get back than it had to get there because they went at a leisurely pace. Eventually they made it back to the palace and Morgan helped Abi dismount. They turned the horses over to a couple of stable boys before making their way upstairs to Morgan's chambers where they spent most of the night talking and just being lovers. Eventually they passed out and probably spent most of the night cuddled up to one another in Morgan's bed. And then the new day dawned.

((OOC: Day of the knight games..several weeks after the Morgan and Abi scene played above.))
Alasdair really had no interest in watching the knight games. It just wasn't his thing. So he'd decided to roam the palace grounds and try to find something to do. At the moment there really didn't seem to be much..though that really wasn't surprising, given that most people were either participating in the knight games or watching them. He didn't much mind the fact that he was alone at the moment, though. At least he didn't have to deal with the noise of the people who were busy cheering on whoever they wanted to win. He shook his head and continued to walk the grounds. The ironic thing here was that Ranait had insisted that he come to this whole ordeal, and yet he hadn't actually seen much of her. He'd spotted her from across the room during the masquerade, but she was so enamored with the duke these days that she didn't seem to have much attention for anyone that wasn't Alpin Mahon. Not that he was surprised by this fact, but that's off the point. The point is that he was bored and wondered why he'd even bothered to come here in the first place, since it obviously wasn't Renny that had brought him here. Truth be told he'd come in hopes of seeing Treise again; though he wasn't sure why he bothered. He doubted that she was interested in him in the slightest.

Treise didn't care much for the knight games either; what was the point in watching people beat each other up when you couldn't join in? She'd come mostly for the wedding and masquerade as she'd known that the two events would be fun, though she wasn't quite sure why she hadn't left last night, or even this morning. Well, yes. She did know, but she wasn't about to admit to the reasoning because even she could see that it was a ridiculous reason for sticking around; the man was a Marquess for Christ's sake! Which really shouldn't effect anything because she was a Grand Duchess and could make her own decisions, but she was being a chicken and hiding behind the fact. Which was quite hilarious because she was usually very blunt and courageous. Turns out she does have a weakness after all, who would've known that a WOMAN didn't like to talk about or face her feelings.
Which was exactly what she was avoiding as she roamed the Palace Grounds. She was bored and boredom lead to thought and she really didn't want to think at this moment in time. A low sigh would billow out from between her lips as she lets her gaze roam, realizing that she wasn't any less prone to suffer through her thoughts being out here than she was being inside. Which sucked, and she would let her frustrations be known by kicking a rock that was in front of her, watching as dust clouded up to land on her kilt and not even paying attention to where the rock might land.

He had continued to wander, right up to the point that he felt something hit his boot. When he looked down and spotted a rock a frown curved his lips and he looked around to see if he couldn't find where the rock had come from. His gaze landed on Treise and he couldn't help the smile that changed his expression when he spotted her. He felt weird, though. About being happy to see her, that is. He was still determined that she had no real interest in him, and that wasn't likely to change any time soon. With a shrug he wandered over towards her anyway. Okay, so maybe he's a little masochistic. What can I say? "Hey," he said, waving awkwardly at her when he approached. She looked for all the world like she didn't want to be here much more than he did. And he found himself wondering why she was still here if she didn't want to be. It wasn't like she couldn't leave, after all. He could have left, too, but he was still semi hopeful that he'd get to see and spend a bit of time with his little sister before he left. He just felt way too weird even thinking about visiting her at Carnaghan.

When she heard a voice she would immediately glance up, irritation starting to leak into her eyes as she didn't know if she wanted company despite being bored out of her mind. But, when she realized that it was Alasdair her whole demeanor changed; a grin parted her lips and she visibly relaxed, and she had to admit that she melted inside upon seeing his awkward wave. It was honestly rather adorable, and she told herself that anybody would say the same about his gesture. She would lift her hand and wiggle her fingers in a wave of her own, "Hi," she would say, completely forgetting what she'd just been thinking about.
She would take a step towards the man, a grin still settled across her face, "So, why aren't you watching the games?" she would ask curiously, though she was glad that he wasn't. If he'd been watching them she never would have encountered them. But, still, she was rather curious about it. She'd taken him for somebody who would like watching things like this, not to ogle the gore like most, but to appreciate the skill shown by the contenders. But then again, maybe he didn't see any point in watching people beat the crap out of each other; he was an intelligent man, and it wouldn't surprise her if he saw such violent acts, even for sport, as ridiculous and unneeded. But that was just her inference...perhaps she'd placed the man on a pedestal?

He smiled at her little finger wiggle type wave and greeting. He didn't; however, notice that her expression had gone from one of irritation to a smile when he'd approached and she'd realized that it was him. When she asked why he wasn't at the games he laughed softly. "I could ask you the same thing," he said. "Though, honestly, I have no interest in watching people beat each other nearly to death," he said with a shrug. "They were interesting about the first two times that I watched them. Seeing the different skills displayed by different people. But then I came to realize that you're basically watching the same thing repeatedly, and there's just not as much fun in it after you realize that," he said with a chuckle. "I also don't think these games really prove much of anything. A man's prowess on the battle field is a lot different than that on a game field. When he has a reason to fight, even a less skilled man can come out of a battle victorious. Without a reason to fight, the most skilled man can come out of a game being considered a loser," he said with a shrug. At least that was the way he'd seen these things go before.

When he said that he could ask her the same thing she would wrinkle her nose playfully at him, though she knew that he wasn't really expecting an answer. She would listen quietly as he continued talking in order to answer her question, though she would laugh softly when he commented that he had no interest in watching people beat each other half to death, only to sober when he spoke about how it had been interesting to him once upon a time, but that it had grown boring and repetitive. Upon hearing him say that the games didn't prove very much she would blink, curious as to what his reasoning might be. She wouldn't have to ask though, as he continued on to talk about motivation and such. It actually made a lot of sense, and if she was being honest she'd seen the same thing when she'd watched the games herself. When he was finished speaking she would nod once again, "It makes sense," she would say with a shrug only to grin and turn playful, "For me it's just the fact that I can't join in and kick some ass," she would joke, winking playfully. Obviously it wasn't completely true, she just hadn't known how to respond without letting the conversation fizzle away. And besides, she didn't like to be serious if she didn't have to be.
