Alpin would smile gratefully towards the King before turning to Queen Moira once again, having to hold back in a laugh when she told him to cut the formalities, “I would, my Queen, but I’m afraid that I might anger somebody and have my tongue carved out,” he would laugh, knowing that guards and knights could be touchy when it came to the royalty that they were pledged to. “Though I do thank you for receiving us,” he would say with a nod. “Unfortunately, I come bearing rather ill news. Lady O’Halloran’s brother, Alasdair, is trying to sabotage our betrothal, despite making an agreement with me in front of witnesses. He has gone so far as to accuse me of taking advantage of the Lady, and got the Clergy involved. Thankfully, their conclusion was that I had not, and they banished the man to Sunil, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t continue to try these sort of things. We have come seeking your blessing and approval for marriage,” he would finally say, glancing towards Renny with a grin before directing his gaze back towards the Queen, “We felt that if we married sooner rather than later, that her brother would no longer be a problem,” he explained. After a moment he would step a bit closer to the Queen, lowering his voice, “I…have to marry her, your majesty. I would die if I wasn’t able to,” he would confess, his deep voice raw with emotion as he basically pleads with her.

She'd keep in mind what Connall had said to her, meaning to respond to him after they had time again; if they did. She listened to him and then smiled a little. "I choose who's tongue to carve out. Do not fear them." She eyed Connall. "The King himself is a soldier. I am sure he doesn't mind it." Her glance would look to Alpin again and listen to him. The name of Ranait's oldest brother made the Queen break face for sure. Her brow furrowed and she gave a sneer. "That rat of a brother is possibly worse then my husband." She'd insist to Ranait and then look to Alpin as he pressed forwards with the asking of a blessing. She paused a little. She felt like of course they could have waited for a day. But she couldn't say that and she couldn't be rude to them for coming so far to ask them this. "The Clergy of course has no real power in my Kingdom. But I am happy they made him go back to his job in Sunil." She gave a contemplative look. She knew why Ranait had been hiding. With a nod of course Moira would smile. "Obviously you do, if you come all this way to just speak to me you both really want this." Her eyes would be on Ranait. She looked to Connall. Then around his audience room. She saw a table for taking in requests and moved to it. Beginning to write something and moved up to Alpin and passed it to him. "Here you go. My blessing."

Ranait O'Halloran
Renny had stood there in silence for most of this whole ordeal; not that it had taken very long, but that's off the point. The point is that when she heard Alpin whisper to the queen she'd nearly died from a heart attack. And then when the queen had said that her brother was probably worse than the king she couldn't help the faint smile that had curved her lips. However, when the queen gave her blessing she felt sure she was going to faint from relief. Had she been anyone other than who she was she probably wouldn't have done what she did. However, as it was she flung herself at the queen and hugged her tightly around the waist. "Oh, Moira," she exclaimed happily. Then she realized that for the first time in four years she'd used the queen's actual name and she blushed with embarrassment that she'd let her excitement get to her. She pulled back from the queen and dipped an extra low curtsy to the woman. "I'm sorry, but...Thank you so much," she whispered softly. She hated feeling so awkward about being that way with the queen because she loved the woman dearly and Moira was so much more to her than a queen. However, she was also her queen, so that awkwardness probably wouldn't ever change.

When the Queen moved off to a little table he would swallow thickly, watching her with anxiety. She could be writing anything down, and he just had the feeling that they might have irritated her. Though, when she came back and handed him the paper, he would glance at it with wonder, a broad grin spreading over his face, “Oh my…” would murmur softly, clutching the paper to his chest before immediately dipping a bow to the woman, though he wasn’t sure if she had seen as Ranait had practically tackled her with a hug, causing him to laugh rather loudly. He would grin as he watches her, waiting until she stepped back and finished curtsying to the Queen before quickly moving in to wrap his arms around her, not giving her time to feel bad about her behavior towards the Queen; he just had a feeling that she would.
As soon as his arms were around her he would lift her up a few inches off of the ground in order to gently kiss her lips, uncaring if it was inappropriate in front of their current audience or not. Afterwards he would put her back down on her feet before grinning wildly around the room, “Ranait…we need to go find a clergyman,” he would say, his voice rather excited.

She actually had to smile at Alpin, something about his face made her need too. Chuckling a little, it was like giving a candy to a baby it seemed. When Ranait hugged her Moira smiled warmly. Placing her hands against Ranait's back. She'd shake her head. She wouldn't pick on her for calling her Moira. It actually did the Queen some good. To hear Ranait consider her a human moreso then a majesty made her day. The Queen just needed her to see that. She actually smiled sweetly to Ranait. "You need to hug me more often. I quite miss our old friendship." She said bluntly. "You're both very welcome.. I hope that you have a good wedding." She'd grin. "I don't know much about the Eastern Kingdom, so have fun? Maybe it will be your honeymoon as well." She warmly tilted her head and sighed. A part of her was respectfully jealous of Alpin and Ranait. But she was very much so happier for them. Thinking of Connall's last statement to her she glanced at him for a moment. Looking at the ground. A thought lifting in her head. "Would you happen to be able to express a Clergyman.. King Connall?"

Connall O'Braddagh
He had mostly stood back, silently watching the proceedings, though he couldn't help but grin through it all. He could honestly say that he probably would have done the same thing that the queen had. While he wasn't in love himself, nor had he ever been, he was definitely for it, and like it or not these two were obviously madly in love. He wasn't the type to complain when he watched the duke lift his woman up off her feet and kiss her soundly in front of them. He just shrugged. He figured if he were ever in love he'd probably act the same way. Something told him love tended to not make people care about those sort of trivial things. When Moira asked him if he knew of any clergy about he would flash a grin. "Actually, Bishop Mac Árdghail should be just finishing up with his normal evening mass. So, if you hurry you can probably catch him," he said with a grin. "Ah, hell. Who am I kidding," he turned to Moira. "This I have to see. Besides, they need witnesses," he flashed her a grin. "So how about a random late night wedding ceremony before you go to sleep," he teased. "You don't have to, but I figure it can't hurt to have a king as one of their witnesses," he said with a shrug.

Ranait O'Halloran
She couldn't help the smile that plastered itself to her face when Alpin swept her up off her feet and kissed her soundly. She returned the kiss, but then turned her attention to the queen when she spoke. "Oh, Moira," she said, feeling a bit guilty that she'd been a little lax in her friendship with the queen. "I miss it too, and I'm sorry," she whispered contritely. Her attention was diverted by the eastern king speaking and a blush settled across her cheeks. She hadn't actually expected him to have an answer to that one; let alone such a good one. "Majesty," she said softly. "Thank you," she said to him and then turned back to Alpin. "I swear you planned this whole thing," she teased him gently and then pressed another kiss against his lips. She was, however, extremely happy with the way this seemed to be going. Thought she would admit, if anyone asked, that she was a bit nervous about the idea of being married so quickly. Not that she didn't want to marry Alpin, but she hadn't expected it all to go quite this quickly, nor this smoothly. "I guess that answers that question. Now the question is are you really ready to become my husband," she asked him sweetly.

Alpin was ecstatic when he heard that the King had somebody that could perform the wedding, grinning down at Ranait when she teased him about planning this whole thing, “I really wish I had,” he would say regretfully, only to smile and gently kiss her back when she kissed him again. When she asked if he was really ready to become her husband he would laugh, a real, loud, bout of laughter that shook his entire frame. When he was finished he would gasp for breath, pulling Ranait tightly against him, “Oh, Lord,” he would say, shifting to gently kiss her forehead, “I’ve been ready since I laid eyes on you,” he would say with a grin before releasing her and turning to the King, “You have my thanks, King Connall. We would truly appreciate that,” he would say with a nod before gently grabbing Renny’s hand, readying himself to move after the King. He had no idea where this Bishop might be, and hoped that the King would lead the way. He somewhat wished that he could have given the Lady a prettier wedding, one with more finesse and the like, but he just couldn’t wait. He didn’t have the patience, nor did he have the safety needed for them to have a bigger wedding.

Moira was pleased when Connall had come up with the name of a Bishop. Looking to Ranait's clothing as she heard Ranait say Moira again, she shook her head at the notion of her apologies. "I understand I am your Queen. As well as your friend." She'd kindly add. "Soon you'll be a Duchess." She'd chuckle a little. When Ranait asked Alpin if he was ready to become her husband she'd chuckle at her lady in waiting. His answer was something she expected, even though she really had just met the Duke. But her eyes returned to Ranait's clothing. "Excuse me for just a minute." She moved away and walked briskly towards the entrance closest to the horses. Her dress flailed out behind her. She came back with another in her arms and moved towards Ranait. Pressing it against Ranait's body she smiled. "Gentlemen, please turn around." She knew she was much taller then Ranait but this dress wasn't full length and tended to be an under layer to one of her long coat-like dresses. She moved around Ranait and pulled off the top layer dress she was wearing and shimmied her into an ivory under dress but it was elaborately embroidered with green leaves to make it look like it could be a top layer on someone as short as Ranait. Moira was happy she brought this dress as it tied in the sides to help make up for Ranait's lack of chest in comparison too Moira's. She began lacing her up and acting like the lady in waiting to a Queen. When she noticed the length she sighed and went to her knees. Taking her hair out of her pins and letting her long brown hair flow down to her hips. Pulling and teasing the dress she stood back up. "Alright. Now you look like a woman about to get married." She'd fuss. "Sorry I hadn't been a Lady of the Court ever, so I hope my hemming job is to your liking."

Connall O'Braddagh
He grinned. He couldn't help it. Love was definitely something worth smiling about. He nodded to the duke when the man expressed his thanks. "No trouble at all," he said. Of course, that might just be because he wasn't the bishop, but that's neither here nor there. Honestly, he was kind of excited. This would be his first marriage that he was a witness to as the king. 'course, they weren't his subjects, but hey. It still counted, right? He chuckled at the expression on Moira's face and the fact that she left and then returned with what looked like a very beautiful gown. When she instructed the men to turn around he obliged. He wasn't the type to be stupid enough to look at another man's woman. When Moira was finished he turned back around and clapped his hands together. "Alright, then. Shall we get this show on the road," he teased with another grin. He wasn't really trying to rush anyone, but he knew that they might have to hurry to be able to catch the bishop, and he didn't want them to miss the man at this hour. So he ushered everyone out of the audience chamber and down the hall to where the bishop should be wrapping up his nightly mass.
"Ah! Bishop Mac Árdghail," he said upon spotting the man just about to close the door to the chapel. "I have a favor to ask of you," he said and when the man waited for him to continue he flashed a grin and gestured to Alpin and Ranait. "These two are in need of a small wedding ceremony," he explained. "It seems the lady's brother is attempting to sabotage their engagement, despite having set it up himself," he said with a frown. The bishop nodded and opened the door to the chapel again, ushering the small group inside. "Anything for the king," he said with a faint smile.

((OOC: Several Weeks Later))
Brendan MacAteer strode through the palace that he hadn't been to in many a year, headed towards the audience chamber of the new king. He hadn't really met Connall O'Braddagh before, but he was hopeful that the man was the type of king that his reputation said he was. He was here, mostly, to request the king allow him to divorce the woman that he had married several years ago. Normally divorce wasn't a think among the kingdoms, but there were certain cases where a king or queen might allow two people to divorce, and he hoped that his case was one of them. He arrived in the audience chamber, and glanced around. He noticed that the palace seemed rather bare compared to the last time that he'd been there, but it seemed to suit the fact that the new king was a soldier to the core. Most soldiers weren't really big on extravagance, and he liked that this man had been placed on the throne by the people, rather than by blood. He didn't have to wait long before the man strode into the audience chamber, and he found himself bowing to a man who was supposed to be like a brother to Lorcan. "Your highness," he said.
When Connall gave him a nod he straightened to face the man and shifted a tad uncomfortably. "I know that divorce is not a common thing, but there are some cases where a king or queen will grant one to a couple. So I have come here, to you, to request that you grant me one from my wife," he said before he took a deep breath and went on to explain. He wove the whole story of how she'd turned into an abusive drunkard after the first few years of their marriage. And then went on to tell how she'd drugged him and, while he left out the part of her and her lover making him watch them, he told of how the children who he'd thought to be his had turned out to be those of another man. And how the two of them had basically forced him out of his own home and told him he was never allowed back there, nor around the children he'd thought to be his.

Connall made his way towards the audience chamber as he had an appointment to keep with one of the knights of his kingdom. Word had it that the man was none other than Brendan MacAteer; his captain of the guard's older brother. He'd never met the man before, but he wasn't sure if he liked him. Mostly because he'd basically abandoned both Lorcan and Ciar when they were very young. Of course, that was just how he knew the story. He was close enough to the man's two siblings to consider them like siblings himself. So, yeah, he was a bit biased against Brendan before he ever met the man. However, he was doing his best to enter into this with an open mind. Especially because no one had been able to tell him what it was the man was here for. When he entered the audience chamber and Brendan dipped him a bow and called him "highness," it was all he could do not to cringe. He hated when people called him by his royal title, even if he understood that it seemed to be necessary.
He settled onto the miniature throne and listened intently while Brendan MacAteer told him why he'd come to request an audience. And then continued on with a story of why he was asking for a divorce. His heart clenched for the man as he spoke of the betrayal of the woman that he had married. He watched the other man's face carefully for any signs that he might be lying, but the hurt and betrayal were etched so clearly across Brendan's face that he knew the man couldn't be lying. When the knight finally finished his tale he nodded slowly and stood up to stride across the room to the man. He clapped him on the shoulder the way he might a brother or a man whose side he'd fought by in one of the wars. "Lord MacAteer, you are granted a divorce from your wife," he said to the man before calling for the bishop. The man entered the room and he told him what Brendan had come here for, and that he had agreed to allow the man to divorce his wife. The bishop arched a brow, but nodded to Connall and settled in a chair that a servant brought in. He wrote out the document and handed it to Connall, who signed it with a flourish before he passed it off to Brendan. "You're always welcome back at court," he said to the man, shaking his hand firmly. "I'm sure your siblings would be interested to know about you," he said in way of a hint.

He couldn't help the look of relief that spread across his face when King Connall and the Bishop signed a piece of paper granting him a divorce from his wife. It just felt like something was finally going right in his life. He nodded to the king when he said that he was always welcome back at court. "I appreciate that," he said with a faint smile. Though when Connall mentioned his siblings he cringed inwardly. "I'm sure they don't want anything to do with me," he said with a shake of his head. "I gave my titles and land to my brother and took off to work on becoming a knight after our parents died. And haven't had any direct contact with them since your parents took them in," he said with a sigh and a shake of his head. "No, it's probably best if they don't know that I'm here. Which means I'll probably be finding somewhere else to stay," he rubbed a hand over his face and bowed to the king again. "Thank you. For everything that you've done for myself and my siblings. It's good to know that they're doing so well, even if they do hate me," he said before he turned to leave, so long as the other man didn't stop him.
