She took the girls hand and shook it gently within her own. She smiled turned to face the King, then her cousin and then, to Ina with a questionable gaze about her face. A smirk tugging her lips as she got an idea. "Well, I think, that enough chatter has gone on and I'm sure Lady O`Ahod would much rather find something fun to do then to sit around with a bunch of old people and chat about unruly subjects such as the Court." She said bluntly, to be honest, it was she who was getting tired of sitting and talking. As much as she enjoyed Connall's and her cousins company, she would much rather be out chasing something or dancing. Her eyes flicked over towards the girl as she smiled. Ignoring Lorcan completely because that is what she did while here. "So Lady Ina, what would you like to do now?" She asked her with a bit of a cheerful tone to her voice. She didn't know the lass very well, but she reminded her a lot of herself at sixteen. Granted she spent most of her time with his Highness around that age, so she did a lot of boyish antics.

She would giggle at Lorcan's topic of his sister. "Well then, I would be delighted to meet her." Ina knew the others wouldn't like her thoughts on her feelings towards being told what to do in a way. With a nod to Lorcan about his wounds, Connall would step in to speak. Smiling to him for a moment. Chuckling a little. "At least you didn't piss anyone off by being born." She insisted and smiled at him. She had a good feeling about Connall and it made her more comfortable to be around him. She also enjoyed Lorcan and Cliona even though she did give her an attitude. She didn't mean too of course. In some way. When he insisted she looked significantly younger she smirked a little. "Well.. If you insist. But.. I like Ina better really. It makes me feel talked too. Not talked at." Since they kept calling her child, or the girl. When she was given the High Lady of the Court title she bowed her head a bit. She knew she was lucky to even get that. It didn't distraught her. "T..Thank you." She'd smile at Connall. Then to Lorcan and when Cliona began talking she blinked. "Fun is kind of more of a.. Archery thing or walking around in the woods and testing mushrooms out or something along those lines. Though I gather that's not very High Lady-like of me?" So she'd shrug. "What do you suggest? I haven't been to the East in quite some time.."

Lorcan suddenly grew bored standing there, something he was prone to doing. He knew that Connall would be used to it by now, and sometimes hated him for it because in the middle of him holding an audience he would just turn around and leave, letting a different guard take his place. He wasn’t so rude this time, though and would offer a smile to the Queen and Ina, “It was a pleasure meeting the both of you, and I do hope that we can chat some other time,” he would say respectfully before bowing, giving the girl a goofy face as he did so to show that he disliked courtly gestures as much as she did. He could feel himself placing her into that category of little sister, though he would try to keep himself from thinking that way; she obviously didn’t want to be protected, and probably didn’t want an older brother figure in her life. Before he walked away he would clap Connall on the shoulder, though as soon as he had passed him his feet would move faster towards the door. Once he was out he would send one of the men guarding the door inside to the King before walking to his own rooms where he would quickly clean up before dressing.
He had donned a kilt, which was a sort of “screw off” to Cliona because of her comment about kilts being dresses, and a plain shirt before exiting once again. Once out of his rooms he would immediately move to exit the palace, knowing that he had to attend to the bear before a scavenger got to it. He grimaced when he wondered if that had already happened, though he really, really hoped it hadn’t. He’d worked hard for that kill, not to mention he’d gotten scratched in the process.

Would watch Ina give them a bit of sass. She had no part to show Ina how to be a lady, so she kind of grimaced inside. Though she was happy at how the Eastern Kingdom and her cousin seemed to take it. Her eyes lifted to Connall, her mouth smiled and she would chuckle. "Yes, well.. I think that is how inheriting a throne is for everyone... Well." She paused. "I enjoy my job. So I gather I am the odd one out." Though court was boring at times. Watching the others move to depart she patted down her dress in habit. Considering her options. "Would it be alright for me to stay the night? I may go visit my sister down in the South.. You don't need to worry about setting me an extremely beautiful room or what have you. I just require a bed. I didn't bring any of my guards." Good job Moira. But it gave her, her own air of independence. Before Clio considered leaving Moira walked over to her and took her hands for a second and hugged her. "It's good to see you cousin." She'd whisper to her. As Lorcan left she'd nod her head. "It was nice to meet you Captain MacAteer. I'll make sure to compliment the perception on your outward appearance to the ladies that spoke of you." She made a slight flirt towards the Captain.

Connall O'Braddagh
He laughed when she said being called Ina made her feel talked to and not talked at. "I can understand that," he said with a chuckle. "Titles are mostly formalities here as far as I'm concerned. Though it does piss some people off that I would let anyone address me as Connall instead of some trumped up royal title that really doesn't do anyone any good except to remind people of my station in life, which in many cases is perfectly pointless," he frowned. "Well, I guess seeing me out and about around the palace might argue against that since I don't like the whole crown wearing business, and I'd rather travel under disguise while outside of the palace, but that's not the point," he said with a shrug. He chuckled when she thanked him for the title that he gave her and lifted his shoulders in a shrug. "Eh. It's all about station to these people, so I figured I'd pull some title or another out of my ass to bestow upon you," he said with a grin. "If anyone asks what it means tell them it means that you're to be treated as the currently highest ranking lady of the court, and that if they have a problem with that they can bring it to me," he said kindly.
Then he turned his attention to Queen Moira and chuckled at her comment about enjoying her job. "Well, I suppose I might have more enjoyment for being a king if I wasn't a soldier at heart," he said with a shrug. "As it is, I can't say that all of this diplomatic bullshit, especially the part where I get to sit in a stuffy room and listen to people whine to me about things they could fix themselves if they would use their brain, is any fun," he said and wrinkled his nose at the thought. "In any case; it is my job, and I do it as best I can," he said with a shrug. When she asked if she was able to stay for the night he nodded. "Of course you can stay for the night," he said. He laughed when she said she didn't need anything overly fancy. "Oh, please take one of the fancier rooms in the palace. I think all the more subtle ones have been taken," he said with a laugh. "I guess that's what happens when you put soldiers in a palace instead of royalty," he grinned.

Cliona have smiled and turned her head over to gaze at the man whom was speaking with her cousin and just sort of rolled her eyes at him. She was afraid of this, honestly. Her cousin coming to the Eastern Kingdom and sort of stealing the show. But she didn't let it worry her. She sighed and looked past the door where Lorcan would run off to before turning her attention back to Lady Ina. "Well, that seems like a good way to start the evening. I'm pretty sure Queen Moira and King Connall are too busy anyway to notice our disappearance." She whispered watching the man speak to her cousin. "Lets go shoot at something." She suggested before nodding and leading the way out towards the archery field. She wasn't about to let the girl get into trouble or anything but if it caught Connall's attention..Then perhaps she could just get herself into trouble. "I have to warn you Lady Ina, I am pretty skilled at archery." She said in a teasing tone. She just might be a bad influence on the poor girl but she also knew that this was going to be a bit of fun. Not for just her, but the girl as well.

Ina grinned at Connall, "I think it makes you more human Connall." She'd insist, she did feel weird meeting a King who'd let her just drop the honorary. But she considered the fact she actually liked Connall. She took off her cloak and draped it over her arm. It showed she lived in her clothing. Her boots were sewn together and her black clergy dress was dirty and had stains from tripping and busting a lip or cutting herself. She'd giggle a little. "I must admit I was afraid that you'd be the sort to want to put me in a dress and make me a princess again and make me wear some sort of fancy head gear." She giggled. "But I am happy to find out that we're not that much far apart. Though if you ever need an advisor I know a few bits about running a country." When Lorcan left she smiled at him and then giggled when he passed them in a Kilt. It was nice to see the kilts. She'd make a nod to him when he said that it was a pleasure. Smiling at the Captain.
Ina looked up at Clio and giggled a little. "Are we jealous?" She'd ask Clio in a whispered tone. But she was sold on the idea of going to shoot at something. "Sounds great!" She'd cheerfully follow Clio. "I've been using a bow since I was 7." She'd giggle a little. "It was the one thing Father did for me."

Watched her cousin's facial structure and squinted a bit. Looking to Connall she hummed a little to herself about her cousin. But ignored it a bit. When Connall and Ina touched on formalities Moira smiled and shrugged. "I would be ok with others calling me Moira instead of Queen Moira really." She always insisted Ranait too but she always called her 'Majesty'. She figured she needed to act like a lady sometime. She glanced down at her hands as she listened to everyone quietly. When Connall turned his attention to her, she looked up at him with her soft brown eyes. She looked up with her eyes her head traveled with them and made her seem so elegant. But she wasn't trying she swore.
"Yes, Audiences do tire me out as well. Since my husband doesn't have the time for them and just spends his time at.." She glanced at Clio and Ina as they moved away. "As he is usually in bed most of the time." She insisted and straightened her dress out with her hands and brushed her dress a bit. She was a little shy talking to Connall it seemed for a moment. But the streak went away when she remembered who she was. "But I do enjoy advising. Considering tactics in the crazy banquet you and I know as politics I suppose. I wish I had a war on my hands. I heard those are brilliant to work through." Upon staying the night she gave a good laugh to him. She had this amazing laugh that would shake up a full room and make everyone pause. "If you insist, I guess I will be sleeping in the luxury." She shrugged a little and tilted her head. "My own room is pretty docile. I don't need anymore then a bed and the wardrobe for the copious amounts of dresses. I think my Tailors are distraught I would rather walk around in my slip all day then wear this sort of get up." She insisted to her long elaborate dress. "However I do have an extraordinary library.. I enjoy reading."

Connall O'Braddagh
He chuckled at Ina's comments and shook his head. "I don't know if it makes me more human. I think it just makes me..me," he said with a smile. He shook his head at her comment about being all princess-like. "Nah. I don't do the kingly dress thing, so I'd feel out of place asking anyone to wear anything special," he assured her with a shrug. Then he turned his attention back to the northern queen when Ina and Cliona took off. His face brightened at Moira's words. "Ah. A reader and a tactician. A woman after my own heart," he said with a grin. "Now if only that woman wasn't married and the queen of a separate kingdom," he said with feigned distress. "Ah, and there I have to agree again. Wars are brilliant to work through. They can be a bit maddening at times, especially when you're trying to save as many lives as possible and still work a decent enough strategy to win the war," he said with a laugh. "Oh, but do I miss those days. War and tactics are really all I ever knew before whatever landed me on the throne," he said with a shrug. He was a modest man and admitting to the fact that his brilliance for tactics and with a sword was a huge part of what had landed him on the throne wasn't something he did often. "I swear it seems like from the moment I learned to walk I'd been training for war," he said with another short laugh. It would be obvious to pretty much anyone that he sorely missed it. It had been his life, after all. "Though I do have to admit that it's probably a big part of why I never got married. My father tried to set me up with several women, but none of them wanted to be married to a soldier, never mind an officer," he said with a shrug. He paused. "Ah, I should probably show you to your rooms rather than keep you waiting any longer," he said apologetically.

Once he responded and expressed she was a woman after his heart about reading and tactics she smiled at him quite kindly. "Well.. Not like I'm the most thrilled about my husband." She would say bluntly once her cousin and the younger woman was gone. She nodded about the wars being maddening. "I was the princess of the Western Kingdom before my cousin was. My father was a bit into the war scene it seems." She would grin in reply at him. She glanced at her hands for a moment when he said war and tactics were all he'd known and how his father would try to get him betrothed. She'd chuckle lightly. "I was practically born to be my husband's Queen. Not that anything comes of our marriage I suppose. He has his women and I have my Kingdom to run. If I had been born a man I wouldn't need a Queen." She would smirk. "Or I could just sit and hope that my husband passes like my sister and her good luck." She frowned for a moment. She looked worn down, tired. "I learned to walk and then learned how to curtsey. Reading was the only way out. Playing the harp. Singing.. Being close to my twin sister." When he insisted in showing her room she'd nod. "Room. I came alone on my mare." No carriage. Just a horse.

Ranait O'Halloran
They rode in mostly silence to the eastern kingdom and she was wondering if this was the right thing to do. However, when they arrived she knew it was too late to turn back anyway. When they were advised that the queen was in the audience chamber with the eastern king her face turned white as reality settled in. However, she allowed Alpin to take the lead as they entered the audience chamber. She caught the tail end of the conversation that the queen was having with the eastern king; a man by the name of Connall, and swallowed hard as she realized they were interrupting, not to mention the fact that the queen seemed to be about ready to be shown to some rooms. A blush of embarrassment settled across her cheeks and she did the only thing she could do, hid behind Alpin after dipping a curtsy to her queen and the eastern king. So, yes, she was a little bit chicken shit. Even though she knew that Alpin was determined that they had good reason to seek out the queen instead of waiting, considering all the shit that her brother pulled and the fact that they really had no way of knowing if his "banishment" would stick..But the fact of the matter was that she'd never, ever, not once in the four years that she'd been at court, gone looking for the queen unless something bad had happened. And something bad had happened; her brother, but that bad thing had happened to her, not anyone important.

Connall O'Braddagh
He smiled at her words. "Well, then, I find myself even more sorry that you are married," he teased good-naturedly. He hated men that were like the queen's husband. Especially when they had a woman like her right in front of them and refused to acknowledge it. He was not, typically, a very violent man, but men like that he just wanted to either slap or punch in the face. Not that he'd ever actually say something like that. He was the type that could smile at someone and then end up with his fist in their face the next second. Some people might call it cheap-shotting. He called it out-smarting them. He was just about to usher the visiting queen from his audience chamber when two people he'd never seen before arrived. They didn't look like commoners, so he figured they were people who were not from his kingdom. The girl looked young, and by the way she curtsied to the queen first, he got the distinct impression that she belonged in Moira's kingdom. "I do believe you have visitors, Lady Queen," he said with a chuckle. He wasn't really sure why he called her that, but it seemed fitting. He could call her by her name, but she was a queen visiting his kingdom and he felt she deserved to be respected as such.

Post by Alpin Mahon on Jul 2, 2014 6:03:02 GMT
He was extremely happy that they had reached the Eastern Kingdom in such timely manner, and couldn’t be happier to find that the Queen was still awake after such a long ride. When the servant lead them into the Audience Chambers he had a stupid grin on his face, and his hand was gently grasping Ranait’s. When they entered he didn’t pay much attention to the conversation already being spoken, though he would dip a respectful bow to Queen Moira and then King Connall, smiling as he noticed Renny curtsy, only to blink when she hid behind him. Which was fine with him, he just figured she would have been more open and courageous around the Queen. He would turn for a quick moment to smile at her, leaning in to gently kiss her forehead, “It’ll be okay,” he assures her, having noticed the look on her face, before turning back around to face the two individuals.
“I am Alpin Mahon, Duke of Carnaghan,” he would introduce himself, to both the Queen and King, before turning his attention to just the King, “And this is Ranait O’Halloran, my betrothed. We have come to seek audience with Queen Moira, though, and I am terribly sorry for the interruption but it is urgent,” he would explain, though the smile never left his lips.

She shrugged at him a little. "I sometimes feel sorry too.. I would love to be able to make heirs but. In the end he is infertile. So his women can have him. I have no use for him." She didn't enjoy her husband in the least bit. But in some weird fashion she had become a friend of his. Though he wasn't at a social standard to consider Moira anything friendly. Cahir was odd and she didn't necessarily like his oddities. She'd probably pay to see Connall 'cheap-shotting' her husband.
When she saw Ranait walk in she was confused, and then looked up at Alpin. She gave Ranait a nod of acceptance. Most Queens wouldn't do this as it was a sign that they were giving a bow back but that wasn't the case. She had a good respect for her lady in waiting. When the Duke said his title she turned her body to face them. Placing her hand against the King's arm to give him an apology for having to excuse their conversation. When he said betrothed she actually tilted her head just slightly. Looking at Ranait like 'oh I guess you don't need my help after all' but it wasn't a conniving look. Just a curious one. "How may I help you if it is urgent? You may cut the formalities a betrothed to Ranait is a friend to me."

Connall O'Braddagh
He nodded to her words. "I can understand that, but at the same time I would hate to be in that sort of marriage. I don't mean that rudely or anything of the sort. It's more that I would hate to be married to someone who didn't have a care for me," he said with a shrug. "Not to mention the fact that even if I was infertile sleeping around with other women would bring me no pleasure," he said with a frown. "There's no point in ruining a relationship with someone that you're married to for the rest of your life," he shrugged. Call him old fashioned, but that was just the way he saw things. "I mean, the two of you may not have any use for one another, but I can't imagine putting that sort of strain on another person. It's just not who I am," he said with a frown. Pause. "Sorry, I shouldn't say things like that," he said with a strained smile. When the man introduced himself as a Duke, Conn nodded to him. "No worries," he said and flashed a friendly smile to Alpin. "I have nothing against the Lady Queen or her people, so you're welcome here whenever, and please," he said with a pause. "Forgive my rambling and speak to your queen," he finished.
