Esras would shake his head when she said that she thought he liked to exaggerate, "No, exaggerating is pretty much lying, and I'm a knight. Knights don't lie," he would say, sincerely. He took his vow to be chivalrous serious, and he would never break them just to make somebody feel good about themselves, "You are an angel...you're intelligent and you can sing," he'd assure her, though wouldn't press it afterwards. If she wanted to think that he was just pulling all of that out of his butt, then so be it. When she also said that he didn't give himself enough credit and went on to praise him he couldn't help but laugh softly, "It's okay, I don't need you to try to salvage my feelings. I would prefer honesty, so that I know how horrible I am," he would admit, lifting a hand to run it through his dirty blonde hair. When she said that that she was hesitant to have him sing the song because she'd only heard it sung by women he would gawk at her, "Are you saying that I sound like a girl?" he would ask incredulously, only to burst out in a bout of rather loud laughter. Fortunately by the time he finished he hadn't managed to wake the Queen, and would smile sheepishly at Ranait.
After they practiced a few more words she would suddenly ask him if he wanted to go for a walk, before quickly explaining herself to him. He would chuckle softly and nod, "Of course. I would love to go on a walk with you," he would say, smiling encouragingly to her as he climbs to his feet. After standing he would scoop up the bird he had almost forgotten that he'd brought with him, the creature only having stirred a little bit ago when the Lady-in-waiting began to sing. He would offer the creature a short whistle, almost as if he was apologizing, before turning his attention back to Ranait, gesturing for her to lead the way out of the library.
