"That," he defended. "Was not so much me being startled as shocked," he said with a frown, but then shrugged. "The shirtless thing is because I tend to shred them on accident. Well..Not really accident. What I do isn't accidental, but I don't pay as much mind to my clothes as I probably should," he admitted. He didn't really have anything to say to her simple men comment, so he didn't say anything. When she asked if he'd like to join her outside he gave a brief nod. "I can do that," he said and turned so that he was facing the direction of the main palace doors. "At the moment I don't really have anything that needs tending to, but I can't promise that won't change," he admitted as he started down the hallway towards the exit. He wasn't really sure where she was planning to head, so he kind of just strolled along casually. He scrubbed a hand over his face as he contemplated life in general. It would probably be a good idea for him to marry and try to have children at some point in the near future, but that sort of thing wasn't something he looked forward to. Well. Kids, yes. Marrying some royal woman who would probably hate him? No.

"Shocked? I guess I haven't been out of the Castle in a very long time." She sighed a little. Chuckling though at the 'shirt thing' comment. "I'm sure there are a lot of happy eyes around here." She somewhat said to herself. When he accepted her offer to take a stroll outside she beamed happily. Nodding and eyerolling. "Of course. I know how royal duty suffices. Unless you mean. In case a wild bull appears on the Castle grounds and you need to relieve your adrenaline stress." She teased him more. She walked at his side, letting their strides match up. She enjoyed how she could just walk beside him; he was seven inches taller then her still but. She walked with a fast pace. Her husband was slow and mellow which was different from his actual attitude. When he began to scrub his face she blinked a bit. "Do you need any opinions on what is bothering you so much Connall?" She could advise him as a fellow ruler. She moved to touch his arm as they walked. Just giving him a light tap of her soft hand. Letting her hand return to her other after the fact. Her dark eyes watching where she was going as well as the King.

He snorted at her comments. Both about happy eyes and about royal duties and wild bulls. He didn't particularly think he was that attractive. Sure, he knew that he wasn't horrible looking, but that's not the point. "The bulls around here aren't technically wild. Well, I guess you could call some of them a bit high spirited, but they're all used to humans enough not to attack anyone without provocation," he said with a shrug. When she asked her question and placed a hand on his arm he kind of shook his head. "It's not all that troublesome. At least not to me. Let's just say there have been people pressuring me to get married and have children. And I wouldn't mind children. Hell, I wouldn't mind marriage, but the idea of marrying some random princess just for the sake of being married and having heirs doesn't sit well with me," he admitted on a sigh. When they reached the palace grounds he paused for a moment and just took in the sight. If not for the court, the palace grounds would definitely be a lovely place. Of course, that was just his opinion. Court was tiresome, and there were more often than not days where he longed for the simplicity of Baemoth. Sure, the estate had been massive, but it wasn't near this bad. "I'd rather fight a thousand wars than face a marriage that is unpleasant," he said on another sigh. "Things like that make me long for home."

She would take in his words about bulls and nod to him. Moira wouldn't ever try what he did. But it sounded like it was a world of fun and hurt. When he gave her a response about marriage she gave him a frown. She had insisted to him before that her marriage wasn't the best. "I wish I could have children. But I have not.. Uhm." She paused and blushed at the side of the King. Who probably had some flings in his life. "I have not consumated my marriage to my husband." It was known she'd been married for 9 years. "Ever. Nor would anything come out of our marriage. My husband is infertile. And would rather bed other women." She'd say bluntly. When they got to the grounds she stopped talking for a second. Breathing in the air and heard his words. She looked down, the Queen who never looked hurt or down finally showed her true colours; she was in that war. "I have only known a bad marriage. Or the lands of a Kingdom." She sighed. The later statement was true. Before Queen she was a Princess.
"But there are princesses who can marry you. My cousin Cliona knows you, or Ina.." She said the last name with a slightly touch. Like as if she knew saying it was out of the question.

He frowned but nodded to her words as he listened. "I'm sorry," he said, expressing sympathy. He couldn't imagine her situation. Some part of him hoped that if he were to marry someone, and not be able to produce heirs they would still be able to have a good marriage. "I guess that's one of the reasons why I'm against marriage to someone that I don't at least like," he said with a frown. "I've seen friendships blossom into love with the right amount of nurturing." When she suggested that he could marry Clio he frowned, but when she suggested Ina he visibly cringed. "I couldn't marry Ina. She's a lovely young lady, but," he paused with a frown and rubbed a hand over his face wearily. "To me she's still too much of a child. And when you've been at war, children become sacred. Because I will tell you now that there's nothing worse for a man like myself at war than to have to listen to the screams of a child who is either terrified or dying. The fact that we can't protect the innocent is gut wrenching. I can't tell you how many times it tore me apart inside when I would be fighting and find that the man I thought I had killed was nothing more than a boy," he said, a growl in his tone. "There was nothing I could do for it. But I'm not going to ruin the innocence of someone who is far too young for her innocence to be ruined outside of war. I hate that I had to do it there. I don't have to do it here," he sighed.
"As per Cliona. I love her like a sister. We grew up together and she will always be near and dear to my heart, but I could never marry her. She's far too much like a sister for me to be willing to ask her to marry me."

"It's nothing to be sorry about." She would look up at him and smiled gently. Pain in her eyes about possibly never having a child. She knew Cahir wouldn't stand for anyone to touch her. He liked seeing her suffer with the want of children or even a relationship. "I didn't mind King Cahir until after his parents passed and he explained that he wished to not.. It made me feel a bit useless. But in the end I govern the country. My husband doesn't. But he doesn't dabble in my work when I am away so I guess I have nothing to be afraid of." She would nod and chuckle calmly. "I knew you'd say no about her." She suggested and then heard him talk about war time she gave him a soft expression. She gained a respect for this man then. Lowering her head. "I'm sorry about what you have gone through.. I don't know how it'll feel to take the life of anyone, even given a child. I know someday as a Queen I will have to give that order. But I have not yet in the nine years I have been Queen." His end statement she smiled moreso and placed her hand against his bicep again. Looking up into his eyes. "You are a good man Connall. As much as you dislike being a King. There are somethings I admire about your capability in being one. You are very respectful and I yearn for Cahir to be like that. But he will never shy away from his whoring, and never would he just give up the power."
Moira would nod lightly about her cousin. She frowned a little though. Thinking of her cousin's reactions towards Moira in the Audience Room. Her eyes gave a pained look. "I do not know if my cousin feels the same about you. But let her be the one to talk to you about it."

He nodded to her words about her husband. "Well; then, as a woman you've got it pretty good," he teased. "Ah. But that's the glory of being a king or queen. You give the order; you don't actually take the life yourself. You're not kneeling on the ground next to the "enemy" whose nothing more than a child while you watch the life fade from their eyes because of your sword," he didn't mean to sound so bitter, but it made him feel bitter. "To some people war is war," he said on a sigh. "And I know that death is inevitable, but for a child to die in a war that wasn't their doing," he let his voice trail off for a moment. "I don't know why we drag our children into war. I understand the need for war, but war on women and children? The innocent should never have to die in a war. The only thing that saved my conscious at all was being the commander that I was. I watched soldiers under the command of others rape and pillage; completely destroy towns and estates with no care for the innocence of those who were standing on the sidelines. I couldn't do that. I wouldn't let my men do it," he said on a sigh. "It wasn't easy, and there were a few times in the beginning when I would have to have men punished for the things they did. In the end, though, things were different. The men under my command never made a move like that, and those commanders and soldiers who fought along side us knew that I wouldn't stand for that," he said, and shook his head when he realized he was rambling.
"Sorry. It's not often that I get to talk about war with anyone. Lorcan and I try to avoid the subject around one another. We both lived through it, and know it's not as glorious as some people make it out to be. He hates jousting because he thinks of it as playing at war. I like it because being a soldier is all I know and am good at," he said with a frown. "A good man doesn't necessarily make a good king. I'm rather horrible at the whole kingly business. I hate people who waste my time with things that they could settle on their own if they would use their brains. I have no patience for the arrogance of some people at court. More often than not I would rather be seeing the farmers and tradespeople that I would see at Baemoth than the courtiers that I see here," he said on a sigh. "Coutiers can be as well studied as they like, but there are times when I swear the farmers and tradespeople are far more intelligent," he said on a short laugh. When she said what she did about Cliona he gave a sigh. "I've had the feeling for a while that she might not see me the same way that I see her, but there's nothing I can seem to do to help it."

Moira actually stood there and listened to his every word. She placed her hands infront of her and clasped them. She enjoyed listening to the Soldier King speak. When he finished his paragraph of ramble she snapped back to reality for a moment. Tilting her head just a bit. Thinking about giving orders to take the life and she sighed. Thinking about war and closing her eyes for a moment. "Anything that has to do with taking life is horrible and dangerous. But it is the world we live in." She opene her eyes and looked out again. "It is the small things in life that we must dabble in to enjoy what Earth has to give." When she said that she heard him say he never let his men do wrong she'd smile a little. "I figure to be a good royal you must know how to plan things. Use a play by play. Though the world revolves around oddities and wrong/right moves."
Chuckling just a bit. "It's alright, not much upsets me Connall.. I mean it does upset me but I am not someone who gets huffy about everything. You'll know when I do." Smiling up at Connall. Laughing a bit. "If you insist. But I think that with the right person at your side you could work well as a King. There are reasons people elect others. There must be a good one for your people to think you're good." She would laugh though. "Oh I know. Those people.. And it's usually the people who have good farm lands and are spoiled and lost their parents recently that waste our time. I would much rather help a farmer and his family then deal with a spoiled Duke who's too used to having their parents hold their hand." She'd give him a sigh. "But I have only known the world of a Royal. Like you as a soldier. I know that dealing with all of my people means the one or two spoiled Duke and Duchess here and there." Patting his arm again; which seemed to be a Moira thing to do to people she can touch without making turn into ash with the thoughts of a Queen touching them. Which is pretty much; Just Connall.. "She's a good lady. I love her dearly though it had been awhile since I had last seen her. My Uncle makes a joke out of my birthplace." She nearly scoffed about the old man.

He nodded to her words, though a sigh drifted from his lips. "I know that. I do, but sometimes it's hard to always focus on the good. I feel like I was at a bad place in my life when they shoved me on the throne," he said with a slight shrug. He nodded to what she said about being a good royal. "I guess that makes sense," he said. "Well, that's good to know," he said in response to her comment about not being the type to get huffy when they were upset. He knew that he got that way on occasion, but he did do his best not to act like a child when something upset or irritated him. He couldn't help but flash a grin to her comment about the spoiled nobles. So it wasn't just him that they bothered. That was good to know. "Oh. Thank the gods I'm not the only one who gets irritated with them," he said with a laugh.
He shook his head, then nodded when she commented on Cliona. "No doubt that she is a good Lady," he agreed. "But. I can't force myself to see her as anything other than a sister," he said on a sigh. When she said that her uncle made a mockery of her birthplace he tilted his head. "How so?"
