Kavan Forrester
48
Male
Heterosexual
Idritis
Commander (Keld)
Personality: Some might consider him soft-spoken because he very rarely; if ever, raises his voice. However there's something about him that; even when he's speaking to a room full of people who are talking, his voice carries without him having to raise it. He doesn't talk a lot; at least not to very many people, because he believes in leading by example, rather than leading by commanding. (Slightly ironic given his title.) While he thoroughly enjoys his duties as Keld's Commander, there is a part of him that wishes he were of higher birth. Not because he covets title or a high station in life, but because the woman that he's loved for many, many years is out of his reach because of her station compared to his.
History: Kavan was born as the eldest son of Achaius and Artis Forrester. His father was a knight who, while he had connections in high places, was not of high birth himself. When Kavan was old enough Achaius sent him to a friend in the Grand-Duchy of Atara who had agreed to take the boy on as his page. The boy dedicated himself to being a good page, even if he was a bit mouthy for his mentor's liking. Like most other boys he became a squire at fourteen years of age, despite his mentor's uncertainty if he was ready for it. It wasn't until his second year as a squire, when he escorted Adair (his mentor) in a crusade, and experienced battle for the first time, that he calmed down. From then on out he dedicated himself to not only becoming a knight, but also becoming a good enough soldier to rise through the ranks. For he fully intended to marry and have children some day. After he became a knight he started to pay closer attention to the goings on at Keld. This was when he first really noticed the Grand-Duke's daughter; Amena. To a young man it was love at first sight, though to be honest it was more like infatuation. Amena was not only beautiful, she was also everything he'd ever imagined in the woman he would marry. Of course she was too far above him in station for him to ever dream that she would actually marry him. That being said, he approached her anyway; intent on at least befriending the woman. One thing lead to another over the first several months of their 'friendship', and at some point in time the two wound up sleeping together. They didn't speak of the event for quite some time, but when they finally did it was to Kavan's great surprise that Amena was pregnant. This was when he finally got the gall to spill his feelings to her, though he never allowed her to say if she felt the same way about him. For twenty-seven years he has avoided learning if she has feelings for him or not. While they have 'been together' a few other times over the years (in fact her eldest three children are his as well), he has never been foolish enough to consider the possibility that she might agree to an actual relationship with him. His love for her has only grown over the years, and is evidenced by the fact that he has refused to marry; despite his early dreams of marriage and children that would know him as their father. (While he has the children, they do not know that he is their father, and he is relatively certain they will never learn the truth.)

Freestyle
Generally speaking Kavan is an easy man to get along with, but somewhat difficult to befriend. Much of this is due to the fact that he has fought long and hard to keep hidden his feelings for the Duchess. That said he has somehow managed to befriend his eldest son without letting on too much of his feelings for the boy's mother; or his true feelings for the boy.
Friends
Kavan likely has his fair share of enemies; considering that he's been the Commander of Keld's army for so many years. That said he doesn't currently harbor any real hostility toward anyone. (I am, however, open to remedying this situation!)
ENEMIES
The one woman who truly holds his heart is Keld's Grand Duchess, Amena Bayn. In fact she's had him in her clutches for so long that he has never been with another woman, and likely never will be.
